University Information Technology Services (UITS) empowers KSU with innovative, secure, and scalable IT services that support academic excellence, research, and institutional growth while enhancing student success and positioning the university as a leader in technology-enabled education.

In 2024, UITS underwent a comprehensive evaluation of the division’s current state, identifying key challenges and opportunities for transformation. SOAR (Strategy, Optimization, Agility, and Results) 2028 outlines our roadmap for IT transformation from 2025 to 2028, aligning with KSU’s Strategic Plan, Taking Flight. This ambitious initiative will position UITS as a high-performing, strategically aligned, and future-ready IT organization capable of delivering exceptional value across the university.

SOAR 2028 focuses on enhancing IT services to ensure they remain innovative, secure, and supportive of KSU’s mission of academic excellence, research, and institutional growth. SOAR 2028 is designed to directly address critical gaps in governance, operational efficiency, financial sustainability, organizational structure, and security, while enabling UITS to become a proactive and innovative partner in advancing KSU’s institutional mission.

Core Objectives of SOAR 2028

1. Exceptional Customer Service

We will deliver exceptional customer service and support by prioritizing responsiveness, quality, and user satisfaction across all IT services.

Key Initiatives:

  • Develop a training program to improve IT support staff's communication, technical skills, and empathy, enhancing service quality.
  • Introduce data-driven feedback mechanisms to collect, analyze, and act on user feedback, ensuring continuous service improvement and responsiveness.

  • Transition to cloud-first to enhance scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency while supporting long-term business continuity goals.
  • Adopt advanced monitoring tools and integrate them with governance frameworks to proactively identify and mitigate system vulnerabilities.
  • Establish a centralized IT governance model to streamline decision-making, align service delivery with institutional goals, and improve operational efficiency.
