• The DirectEdit link (© copyright symbol in footer) is on every page of the website, click to log in to Omni CMS. When you log in with the DirectEdit link, you immediately see the edit mode of the website page you logged in from.

Another way to log into OmniCMS would be through the short url, which will take you to a listing of all sites to choose from.

  • Once in the Content > Pages view of your site you can click on the + New button in the top right of your file view. This will give you a list of template options to choose from.

Whichever option you select you will fill out a handful of page parameters. The selected template will be created in the current folder.

  • To add an image to a page:

    2. In the "Source" field, click the file chooser.
    3. Navigate through folders in your Omni CMS site or search an auxiliary site or other environment, using the dropdown.

  • Upload files while in Content Pages or while inserting an image, media, or link onto a page. Uploading adds files to the file structure for your pages. You must publish an uploaded file for it to be visible on your live website.

  • Add a link from your page to another page, section, or file (for example, PDF) in your Omni CMS website or to an external web page as follows:

    1. While editing an editable region, select the text or image to display as a link.
    2. Click Insert/Edit Link  in the What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) toolbar to open the "Insert/Edit Link" box.
    3. In the "URL" field, paste the external web address or click the file chooser .
      • From file chooser, navigate through folders in your Omni CMS site.
      • Click the file to link.
      • Click Insert.
    4. To link to an anchor, type #anchorname in the "URL" field.
    5. In the "Title" field, enter the name of the page you're linking to.
      • "Title" text appears when someone hovers over the link and is used by screen readers. This is important to meet accessibility compliance standards.
    6. Set the "Open link in..." field to Current Window or New Window, using the dropdown.
    7. Click Save.

NOTE: When linking to a page or file in your website, it's important to use the file chooser rather than pasting in the URL. Choosing the file allows dependency manager to track your link and keep it from breaking if the page is moved or renamed.

  • Because Omni CMS is a decoupled system, you must publish pages, files, and other content for changes to appear on your live website. By default, all users can publish content unless it is checked out to another user.

To publish a page or file, either:

    1. While viewing the file, click Publish.

    or

    1. Navigate to Content > Pages
    2. Find your file.
    3. Click More Actions.
    4. Click Publish > Publish.

If you don't have permission to publish pages, you see the option to Submit.

  • Recycling a file removes it from Omni CMS and from your live website, and sends it to the recycle bin, where it can be restored or permanently deleted.

Click Content > Recycle Bin to see files, their original location, who recycled them, and when. Click More Actions to Restore or Delete files.

    • Restoring a file or folder returns it to its original location on the staging server.
      • Publish the file to restore it to your website.
      • A restored file generates a new dependency tag and you must update the links that point to the old tag.
    • Deleting a file permanently removes it from Omni CMS, with no way to bring it back.

To restore or delete multiple files, click file checkboxes and select the appropriate option from the list header. To restore a folder and its files, select files with the same original location and recycle date.
