  Matthew Kirk (b. 1978, Ganado, Ariz.) is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. A self-taught artist, Kirk’s abstract assemblages and paintings are steeped in symbolism and iconography that take inspiration from colors and patterns found in turn-of-the-century Navajo rugs. Kirk will be the Windgate Artist-in- Residence at KSU in Fall 2024.

  The Zuckerman Museum of Art is pleased to present new work by artist Beth LaCour. The exhibition features a series of folded paper vessels as well as a large installation on the Project Walls. LaCour’s work focuses on hand folded sculptural paper vessels, reliefs, and lighting. She has taught printmaking as well as drawing, papermaking, sculpture, and digital processes at Randolph College (V.A.), Yavapai College and Northern Arizona University (A.Z.). A former artist-in-residence at Taliesi, her work is included in numerous national private and public collections. Currently, LaCour is the Studio Coordinator for both the Book Arts Studio and the Papermaking Studio at Penland School of Craft (N.C.).

  Annet Couwenberg: Sewing Circles features an overview of ten years of cultural research, digital experimentation, and finished artifacts. Couwenberg completed the work as part of her studio practice and in partnerships with cultural institutions in North America, Europe, and Asia. The artistic projects presented in this exhibition highlight the expanding technological parameters related to textiles and fabrics and their specific application in the arenas of scientific research, fashion and interior design, and contemporary social issues. The exhibition explores her depth of research as well as the multiple intersections that are revealed between established disciplines and fields of knowledge. Annet Couwenberg: Sewing Circles is curated by Lori Rubeling. The traveling exhibition is organized by the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture, UMBC with support from Maryland State Arts Council. Couwenberg will be the Windgate Artist-in-Residence at KSU in Spring 2025.

  About Jagdish N. Sheth

  Jagdish N. Sheth is a renowned scholar with over 60 years of experience in consumer psychology, competitive strategy, and geopolitics. He has taught and conducted research at University of Southern California, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Columbia, MIT, and Emory.

  Dr. Sheth is a recipient of the Padma Bhushan Award, which is one of the highest civilian awards given by the government of India.  In addition, he is a fellow of the Academy of International Business, Association of Consumer Research, American Psychological Association, and the American Marketing Association.

  A prolific author, Dr. Sheth has published over 300 papers and numerous books. He founded the Center for Telecommunications Management at USC and the ICA Institute, which analyzes the trilateral relationship between India, China, and America. He also established the Academy of Indian Marketing and the Sheth Family Foundation to support charitable and scholarly endeavors.

  This is the first of a two-part financial literacy series being held at the Sturgis Library in February. This session will be hosted by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, where they will discuss the basics of budgeting and finances. Topics covered will include the loan types KSU students are eligible for while attending as well as their obligations once they have graduated or are no longer in attendance at KSU.   This program involves a series of one-hour monthly workshops, plus one-hour monthly writing sessions throughout the spring semester followed by a two-day writing retreat in May.

   

  Participants are required to register for events in advance, but sessions will be recorded for those who cannot attend in person. Each workshop and writing session will allow ample time for Q&A. Additionally, we have a D2L course with resources specific to writing NSF CAREER proposals available for registered participants.

  The Zuckerman Museum of Art is pleased to present new work by artist Beth LaCour. The exhibition features a series of folded paper vessels as well as a large installation on the Project Walls. LaCour’s work focuses on hand folded sculptural paper vessels, reliefs, and lighting. She has taught printmaking as well as drawing, papermaking, sculpture, and digital processes at Randolph College (V.A.), Yavapai College and Northern Arizona University (A.Z.). A former artist-in-residence at Taliesi, her work is included in numerous national private and public collections. Currently, LaCour is the Studio Coordinator for both the Book Arts Studio and the Papermaking Studio at Penland School of Craft (N.C.).

  Annet Couwenberg: Sewing Circles features an overview of ten years of cultural research, digital experimentation, and finished artifacts. Couwenberg completed the work as part of her studio practice and in partnerships with cultural institutions in North America, Europe, and Asia. The artistic projects presented in this exhibition highlight the expanding technological parameters related to textiles and fabrics and their specific application in the arenas of scientific research, fashion and interior design, and contemporary social issues. The exhibition explores her depth of research as well as the multiple intersections that are revealed between established disciplines and fields of knowledge. Annet Couwenberg: Sewing Circles is curated by Lori Rubeling. The traveling exhibition is organized by the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture, UMBC with support from Maryland State Arts Council.   Speaker: Dr. Sam Borstein, Assistant Professor @ Texas State University
  Title: “Macroevolutionary perspectives on speciation and innovation in fishes”
  Abstract: Dr. Sam Borstein is an Assistant Professor at Texas State University, where his labs studies large-scale macroevolutionary topics such as adaptive radiation, evolutionary innovations, and the evolution of dietary specialization. Much of Sam's work involves some of the most interesting and diverse fishes in the world—the cichlids. Before arriving at Texas State University, Sam earned his undergraduate degree from Cal State Sacramento, his PhD from the University of Tennessee Knoxville, and worked as a postdoc at the University of Michigan. His presentation includes great examples of how to combine basic natural history, cutting-edge genomic methods, and new statistical frameworks to learn about the world around us.

   

  The Ecology, Evolution, Behavior, & Organismal Biology (EEBOB) seminar series focuses on biological topics at whole-organism and higher scales of organization. Guest speakers come from universities, governmental agencies, NGOs, zoos, museums, and other institutions. The EEBOB seminar is an opportunity to learn about career paths and research in the biology discipline, and for students to engage with professionals in a wide variety of biology careers.

   

  This seminar series consists of a pre-recorded seminar, which will be posted to a playlist at the beginning of each week, and a live, virtual Q&A session with the speaker.   Join the Department of Student Volunteerism and Service on February 8th for an OwlsServe Day at the Black History Bowl Championship hosted by the City of Kennesaw Parks & Recreation Department!

  Volunteers will engage and interact with attendees by greeting students and teams as they arrive and act as team mentors throughout the completion day. This is the final competition day involving 8 middle school teams.

  The Zuckerman Museum of Art is pleased to present new work by artist Beth LaCour. The exhibition features a series of folded paper vessels as well as a large installation on the Project Walls. LaCour’s work focuses on hand folded sculptural paper vessels, reliefs, and lighting. She has taught printmaking as well as drawing, papermaking, sculpture, and digital processes at Randolph College (V.A.), Yavapai College and Northern Arizona University (A.Z.). A former artist-in-residence at Taliesi, her work is included in numerous national private and public collections. Currently, LaCour is the Studio Coordinator for both the Book Arts Studio and the Papermaking Studio at Penland School of Craft (N.C.).

Couwenberg completed the work as part of her studio practice and in partnerships with cultural institutions in North America, Europe, and Asia. The artistic projects presented in this exhibition highlight the expanding technological parameters related to textiles and fabrics and their specific application in the arenas of scientific research, fashion and interior design, and contemporary social issues. The exhibition explores her depth of research as well as the multiple intersections that are revealed between established disciplines and fields of knowledge. Annet Couwenberg: Sewing Circles is curated by Lori Rubeling. The traveling exhibition is organized by the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture, UMBC with support from Maryland State Arts Council.   Matthew Kirk (b. 1978, Ganado, Ariz.) is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. A self-taught artist, Kirk’s abstract assemblages and paintings are steeped in symbolism and iconography that take inspiration from colors and patterns found in turn-of-the-century Navajo rugs. Kirk will be the Windgate Artist-in- Residence at KSU in Fall 2024.

  Breighlynn Polk was the inaugural fellow for the HBCU Radio Preservation Project and currently serves as Executive Director of the Iberian African American Historical Society. She earned a BA in history from Clark Atlanta University and MA in American Studies from Kennesaw State University. Much of Polk’s research and community work grows from her extensive oral history project chronicling the post-Jim Crow era lives of African Americans in the Louisiana South.

  Join the English department in welcoming Dr. Ester Kim Lee for a talk on her book Made Up Asians: Yellowface during the Exclusoin Era. The book traces the history of yellowface, the theatrical convention of non-Asian actors putting on makeup and costumes to look East Asian. Using case studies from European and US theatre, examinations of race science, and early films, Dr. Lee traces the development of this practice in the US context during the Exclusoion Era (1862-1940), when Asians faced legal and cultural exclusoins from immigration and citizenship.

  The Zuckerman Museum of Art is pleased to present new work by artist Beth LaCour. The exhibition features a series of folded paper vessels as well as a large installation on the Project Walls. LaCour’s work focuses on hand folded sculptural paper vessels, reliefs, and lighting. She has taught printmaking as well as drawing, papermaking, sculpture, and digital processes at Randolph College (V.A.), Yavapai College and Northern Arizona University (A.Z.). A former artist-in-residence at Taliesi, her work is included in numerous national private and public collections. Currently, LaCour is the Studio Coordinator for both the Book Arts Studio and the Papermaking Studio at Penland School of Craft (N.C.).

  Annet Couwenberg: Sewing Circles features an overview of ten years of cultural research, digital experimentation, and finished artifacts. Couwenberg completed the work as part of her studio practice and in partnerships with cultural institutions in North America, Europe, and Asia. The artistic projects presented in this exhibition highlight the expanding technological parameters related to textiles and fabrics and their specific application in the arenas of scientific research, fashion and interior design, and contemporary social issues. The exhibition explores her depth of research as well as the multiple intersections that are revealed between established disciplines and fields of knowledge. Annet Couwenberg: Sewing Circles is curated by Lori Rubeling. The traveling exhibition is organized by the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture, UMBC with support from Maryland State Arts Council.   Title: “Birds Georgia: habitat restoration and how I got here”
  Abstract: Sebastian Hagan is a very recent KSU alum, earning his B.S. Environmental Science in 2023 after conducting plant research with Dr. Heather Sutton. Since then, Sebastian has been employed as a Habitat Program Coordinator for Birds Georgia—a non-profit "dedicated to building places where birds and people thrive". In this role, Sebastian leads hands-on habitat restoration efforts on various properties, coordinates group activities, and helps further the mission of the organization. This seminar provides a glimpse into his role with Birds Georgia and advice for students interested in pursuing a similar career. 

   

  The Ecology, Evolution, Behavior, & Organismal Biology (EEBOB) seminar series focuses on biological topics at whole-organism and higher scales of organization. Guest speakers come from universities, governmental agencies, NGOs, zoos, museums, and other institutions. The EEBOB seminar is an opportunity to learn about career paths and research in the biology discipline, and for students to engage with professionals in a wide variety of biology careers.

  Annet Couwenberg: Sewing Circles features an overview of ten years of cultural research, digital experimentation, and finished artifacts. Couwenberg completed the work as part of her studio practice and in partnerships with cultural institutions in North America, Europe, and Asia. The artistic projects presented in this exhibition highlight the expanding technological parameters related to textiles and fabrics and their specific application in the arenas of scientific research, fashion and interior design, and contemporary social issues. The exhibition explores her depth of research as well as the multiple intersections that are revealed between established disciplines and fields of knowledge. Annet Couwenberg: Sewing Circles is curated by Lori Rubeling. The traveling exhibition is organized by the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture, UMBC with support from Maryland State Arts Council. Couwenberg will be the Windgate Artist-in-Residence at KSU in Spring 2025.

  The Zuckerman Museum of Art is pleased to present new work by artist Beth LaCour. The exhibition features a series of folded paper vessels as well as a large installation on the Project Walls. LaCour’s work focuses on hand folded sculptural paper vessels, reliefs, and lighting. She has taught printmaking as well as drawing, papermaking, sculpture, and digital processes at Randolph College (V.A.), Yavapai College and Northern Arizona University (A.Z.). A former artist-in-residence at Taliesi, her work is included in numerous national private and public collections. Currently, LaCour is the Studio Coordinator for both the Book Arts Studio and the Papermaking Studio at Penland School of Craft (N.C.).

  Analysis and Applied Mathematics (AAM) Seminar

  Title: “Arithmetic Progressions in Fractal Sets of Sufficient Thickness ”
  Abstract: We consider the conditions required on a set that guarantee it contains arithmetic progressions. Szemeredi proved the existence of arithmetic progressions in subsets of the natural numbers with positive upper density. In the fractal setting, it is known by Maga and Keleti that full Hausdorff dimension is not enough to guarantee the existence of a 3-term arithmetic progression in subsets of d-dimensional Euclidean space; however, it turns out that Fourier decay coupled with nearly full Hausdorff dimension is sufficient for the existence of arithmetic progressions, as shown by Laba and Pramanik. In this talk, we consider another notion of size: Newhouse thickness. It is known that thickness larger than 1 is enough in the real line to guarantee the existence of a 3-term arithmetic progression. In higher dimensions, Yavicoli showed that it takes thickness larger than 10^8, along with some additional assumptions, to guarantee a 3-point configuration. We give the first result in higher dimensions showing the existence of 3-term arithmetic progressions in sets of thickness larger than 2/(1-2r), where r is a constant dependent on the set.

   

  The Analysis and Applied Mathematics (AAM) Seminar is intended for Kennesaw State faculty working in the various areas of analysis and applied mathematics to get together to discuss their current work or related questions.   Speaker: Becca Cozad, Southwestern Program Coordinator @ Amphibian and Reptile Conservancy
  Title: “Herp conservation from the East Coast to the Western deserts”
  Abstract: Becca Cozad earned her B.S. Biology from Emory University and her M.S. from the University of Georgia, where she studied wildlife disease in gopher tortoises. Her experience with conservation began with sea turtles at the Mote Marine Laboratory and the Georgia Sea Turtle Center and continued as a research biologist at the Nokuse Plantation; today, Becca works as the Southwestern Program Coordinator for the Amphibian and Reptile Conservancy—a nonprofit “focused on identifying and conserving the highest priority places for amphibians and reptiles in the United States.” In her presentation, Becca details her career journey, describes opportunities and challenges in conservation, and provides advice for students looking for post-graduation jobs and graduate school opportunities.

   

  The Ecology, Evolution, Behavior, & Organismal Biology (EEBOB) seminar series focuses on biological topics at whole-organism and higher scales of organization. Guest speakers come from universities, governmental agencies, NGOs, zoos, museums, and other institutions. The EEBOB seminar is an opportunity to learn about career paths and research in the biology discipline, and for students to engage with professionals in a wide variety of biology careers.

   

  This seminar series consists of a pre-recorded seminar, which will be posted to a playlist at the beginning of each week, and a live, virtual Q&A session with the speaker. All are welcome to attend! To be granted access to the live Q&A session, interested attendees can email Dr. Todd Pierson. The live Q&A session will be held each Thursday at 12:30 PM.

  Museums, Archives and Rare Books, along with the University Libraries, invites you to help us celebrate Black History Month with this special event. The Museum of History and Holocaust Education will showcase their traveling exhibit and trunk about the Tuskegee Airman of WWII. The Bentley Rare Book Museum will feature a selection of rare books authored by iconic Black writers of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Example writers include Paul Laurence Dunbar, Zora Neale Hurston, James Baldwin, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Historical documentes University Archives collection will also be on display. Summer, the library's mascot and therapy Corgi, will be in attendance to interact with students. There will also be snacks, games, prizes and giveaways.

  Abstract: The circle method is a useful tool in analytic number theory and combinatorics. The term "circle method" can refer to one of a variety of techniques for using the analytic properties of the generating function of a sequence to obtain an asymptotic formula for the sequence. We will discuss different versions of the circle method and some results that can be obtained by using the circle method.

   

  The Discrete Math Seminar (DMS) is intended for Kennesaw State faculty working in the various areas of algebra, number theory, and discrete mathematics to get together to discuss their current work or related questions.   Matthew Kirk (b. 1978, Ganado, Ariz.) is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. A self-taught artist, Kirk’s abstract assemblages and paintings are steeped in symbolism and iconography that take inspiration from colors and patterns found in turn-of-the-century Navajo rugs. Kirk will be the Windgate Artist-in- Residence at KSU in Fall 2024.

LaCour’s work focuses on hand folded sculptural paper vessels, reliefs, and lighting. She has taught printmaking as well as drawing, papermaking, sculpture, and digital processes at Randolph College (V.A.), Yavapai College and Northern Arizona University (A.Z.). A former artist-in-residence at Taliesi, her work is included in numerous national private and public collections. Currently, LaCour is the Studio Coordinator for both the Book Arts Studio and the Papermaking Studio at Penland School of Craft (N.C.).

  Annet Couwenberg: Sewing Circles features an overview of ten years of cultural research, digital experimentation, and finished artifacts. Couwenberg completed the work as part of her studio practice and in partnerships with cultural institutions in North America, Europe, and Asia. The artistic projects presented in this exhibition highlight the expanding technological parameters related to textiles and fabrics and their specific application in the arenas of scientific research, fashion and interior design, and contemporary social issues. The exhibition explores her depth of research as well as the multiple intersections that are revealed between established disciplines and fields of knowledge. Annet Couwenberg: Sewing Circles is curated by Lori Rubeling. The traveling exhibition is organized by the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture, UMBC with support from Maryland State Arts Council.   In this 4-hour virtual workshop, renowned book artist Shawn Sheehy will lead attendees through structural basics and advanced techniques for creating pop-up books. Sheehy will also present a virtual lecture about his work at 12 p.m. His trade pop-up books Welcome to the Neighborwood and Beyond the Sixth Extinction (both mass-market versions of previous artist books) were published by Candlewick and have won numerous awards. Sheehy has been teaching book arts courses and workshops since 2001. His broadsides and artist book editions have been collected by such prestigious institutions as Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, University of Chicago, Library of Congress, UCLA, and Harvard. Sheehy served as director of The Movable Book Society from 2018 to 2023. He holds an MFA in Book Arts from Columbia College Chicago.

  Title: “Apollonian circle packings, integers, and sphere packings”

  Abstract: Apollonian circle packings are certain circle configurations in which the circles do not intersect but may be tangent to each other. What do Apollonian circle packings have to do with integers? Under certain conditions, each circle in an Apollonian circle packing has a bend (1/radius) that is an integer! When all the bends are integral, which integers appear as bends? It turns out that this is a hard question to answer. However, it is easier to answer a similar question for analogous higher-dimensional sphere packings.

   

  The KSU Mathematics Colloquium is a seminar series that brings in researchers from other universities to present results on all areas of Mathematics. The talks are targeted at general audiences of students and professors.

  The UDL Experience (UDLEX) is a three-week workshop designed to give Kennesaw State faculty an opportunity to collaborate on applying UDL principles to course lessons, content, activities, and assessments.  This workshop assumes that faculty who attend already have a basic working knowledge of Universal Design for Learning and want to learn more about how to use it in their own course.

  After taking this workshop, faculty will be able to:

  • Explain the principle of Universal Design
  • Create or design a learning activity, assessment, or a piece of content according to UDL guidelines.
  • Discuss applying UDL guidelines to real-world learning activities.
  • Evaluate their course content, material, activities, or assessments according to UDL guidelines.

  Kennesaw State University's Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Department (RME) offers a Mechatronics Engineering degree. This department is known for its work in different areas of robotics: 

  
  Soft Robots: They design flexible robots that are becoming popular for use in healthcare, wearables, and advanced artificial limbs.  Wheeled Robots: They work on robots that move on wheels.  Flying Robots (UAVs): They train students to make and control drones, which can be used for things like checking the environment or helping in emergencies.  Factory Robots: Students learn to create robots used in making cars, planes, and electronic items.  Medical Robots: They research robots that can help in medical tasks like surgeries, helping patients recover, or creating artificial limbs.

  Annet Couwenberg: Sewing Circles features an overview of ten years of cultural research, digital experimentation, and finished artifacts. Couwenberg completed the work as part of her studio practice and in partnerships with cultural institutions in North America, Europe, and Asia. The artistic projects presented in this exhibition highlight the expanding technological parameters related to textiles and fabrics and their specific application in the arenas of scientific research, fashion and interior design, and contemporary social issues. The exhibition explores her depth of research as well as the multiple intersections that are revealed between established disciplines and fields of knowledge. Annet Couwenberg: Sewing Circles is curated by Lori Rubeling. The traveling exhibition is organized by the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture, UMBC with support from Maryland State Arts Council.   The Zuckerman Museum of Art is pleased to present new work by artist Beth LaCour. The exhibition features a series of folded paper vessels as well as a large installation on the Project Walls. LaCour’s work focuses on hand folded sculptural paper vessels, reliefs, and lighting. She has taught printmaking as well as drawing, papermaking, sculpture, and digital processes at Randolph College (V.A.), Yavapai College and Northern Arizona University (A.Z.). A former artist-in-residence at Taliesi, her work is included in numerous national private and public collections. Currently, LaCour is the Studio Coordinator for both the Book Arts Studio and the Papermaking Studio at Penland School of Craft (N.C.).

  at Zuckerman Museum of Art

  Annet Couwenberg: Sewing Circles features an overview of ten years of cultural research, digital experimentation, and finished artifacts. Couwenberg completed the work as part of her studio practice and in partnerships with cultural institutions in North America, Europe, and Asia. The artistic projects presented in this exhibition highlight the expanding technological parameters related to textiles and fabrics and their specific application in the arenas of scientific research, fashion and interior design, and contemporary social issues. The exhibition explores her depth of research as well as the multiple intersections that are revealed between established disciplines and fields of knowledge. Annet Couwenberg: Sewing Circles is curated by Lori Rubeling. The traveling exhibition is organized by the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture, UMBC with support from Maryland State Arts Council. Couwenberg will be the Windgate Artist-in-Residence at KSU in Spring 2025.

  The Zuckerman Museum of Art is pleased to present new work by artist Beth LaCour. The exhibition features a series of folded paper vessels as well as a large installation on the Project Walls. LaCour’s work focuses on hand folded sculptural paper vessels, reliefs, and lighting. She has taught printmaking as well as drawing, papermaking, sculpture, and digital processes at Randolph College (V.A.), Yavapai College and Northern Arizona University (A.Z.). A former artist-in-residence at Taliesi, her work is included in numerous national private and public collections. Currently, LaCour is the Studio Coordinator for both the Book Arts Studio and the Papermaking Studio at Penland School of Craft (N.C.).

  Matthew Kirk (b. 1978, Ganado, Ariz.) is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. A self-taught artist, Kirk’s abstract assemblages and paintings are steeped in symbolism and iconography that take inspiration from colors and patterns found in turn-of-the-century Navajo rugs. Kirk will be the Windgate Artist-in- Residence at KSU in Fall 2024.

  The Department of Architecture provides multidisciplinary curriculums that nurture critical thinking. The programs embrace new technologies and encourage creativity and innovation through integration of the theory, art, technology and science of the built environment. The 5-year Bachelor of Architecture program, at KSU, is a National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) accredited, first processional degree in architecture, leading to eligibility for licensure (Architectural Registration Exam).

  2025 Spring STEM Job, Co-op, & Internship Fair

  Each Fall & Spring semester, we invite many of the nation's top companies to the Marietta campus in order to showcase KSU's brightest students and alumni for internship, co-op, full-time, & part-time positions.
   

  Companies will be primarily hiring for roles in STEM-related fields and jobs. Don't forget that this is a three-day fair, so be sure to look for which day each company will be in attendance, and make plans to attend multiple days to visit with more companies!

   

  • Day 1 - Computer Technology, Math, Data, and Engineering
  • Day 2 - Architecture, Construction, and Structural Design and Engineering
  • Day 3 - Engineering

   

  Many companies are also hiring for roles in accounting, management, communications, and many more fields. Students of all majors and class levels are encouraged to attend.

  Faculty and students may struggle with engagement in online classes and wonder what they can do to increase it. Centering Felten and Lambert's (2020) ideas about relationship-rich education, this workshop explores how to increase student engagement in online classes by building relationships with and among students. At the core of building relationships in this context is "humanizing" the online classroom to make all students feel supported (Pacansky-Brock et al, 2020) . Workshop participants will explore, discuss, and reflect on relationship-rich education and humanizing in the online classroom context. Drawing on these concepts, participants will develop ways to engage students online, while learning more about evidence-based strategies that cultivate student success.

  The Ecology, Evolution, Behavior, & Organismal Biology (EEBOB) seminar series focuses on biological topics at whole-organism and higher scales of organization. Participants will learn how to write clear, concise, and compelling Specific Aims pages that effectively communicate the goals and impact of their research.   Session 1: February 28th at noon

  Session one will be a 60-minute virtual workshop focusing on effective strategies for developing well-organized and impactful Specific Aims pages.

   

  Topics will include:

  - Techniques for clearly presenting research aims.

  - Emphasizing the importance of the research.

  - Structuring aims in a logical and persuasive way that will grab the attention of grant reviewers

   

  Following the presentation, attendees will work in groups to review and evaluate sample Specific Aims pages.

   

  After the session one, attendees may request a post-workshop consultation with a CETL staff member to help jumpstart their Specific Aims page writing process.

   

   

  Session 2: April 2 at noon

  Session two will be a 1.5-hour hands-on, in-person workshop designed to provide faculty members with an opportunity to enhance their grant-writing skills. During the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to refine existing Specific Aims pages by receiving real-time feedback from other attendees and a member of the CETL team.

   

  Following the series, attendees will have the opportunity to schedule one-on-one “Specific Aims (SA) Mock Reviews” with a CETL staff member. To ensure thorough feedback, participants will be asked to share their Specific Aims page drafts in advance. During the SA Mock Review, participants will also have the opportunity to address any other educational grant writing questions.

  Join the Department of Student Volunteerism and Service on February 28th for an OwlsServe Day at the AYTEF Block Party! Atlanta Youth Tennis & Education Foundation (AYTEF) offers tennis and education initiatives in vulnerable communities. AYTEF functions as a Sports Based Youth Development nonprofit, utilizing tennis as a catalyst for holistic growth in under-resourced youth.

  Volunteers will assist with a variety of event tasks including off-court tennis guides, games/ activities, floaters, registration, and more!

  Transportation: All students will be required to ride the SVS Big Owl Bus to and from campus. Transportation will be provided on the Kennesaw and Marietta campuses.
