International Field Experiences

Gaining International Field Experiences helps students find unique opportunities to gain global experience through international field placements in P-12 education. Since 2002, over two hundred KSU students have participated in international student teaching experiences in countries like China, Belize, Costa Rica, and Uganda, enriching their global perspective and enhancing their ability to teach diverse student populations.

Through these opportunities, students can also earn global engagement certification and apply for scholarships to support their study abroad programs.

Call Me MISTER® Program

The Call Me MISTER® (Mentors Instructing Students Toward Effective Role Models) program is dedicated to increasing diversity in the teaching profession by preparing more males of color for careers in education. With only 2% of the teacher workforce represented by males of color, this nationally recognized program—originally founded at Clemson University—aims to address the shortage through mentorship, professional development, and recruitment efforts.

Call Me MISTER® equips future educators with the skills and support needed to make a lasting impact in elementary and middle schools.
