• Project Description

The Department of Instructional Technology in the Bagwell College of Education is offering a Personalized Learning "Certificate" program. This Certificate program is designed for educators who do NOT hold a Georgia PSC clear, renewable teaching certificate. If you do hold a clear, renewable GA teaching certificate, please apply to the Personalized Learning "Endorsement" program.

The purpose of the program is to provide learners with foundational understanding of what personalized learning is, and the competencies necessary to effectively personalize a classroom or course.

Learners demonstrate ten competencies as outlined in the Personalized Learning standards and plan how to personalize their own classrooms. The program consists of 3 courses (ITEC 7600, ITEC 7602, and ITEC 7603) that include the following competencies: Prioritized Executive Function, Learner Agency, Asset-based Dispositions, Growth and Mastery Mindset, Authentic and Adaptive Assessment, Flexible Education Resources, Individualized Path, Dynamic Communication, Expanded Collaboration, and Life-Long Professional Learning.

The Personalized Learning Certificate will be the first Personalized Learning certificate for K-12 teachers in the state of Georgia. Learners will use field experiences in the second and third courses to transform learning experiences in their classrooms to be more personalized for K-12 students. This program models personalized learning in the online context through constructivist pedagogies and one-on-one learner-and-instructor co-planning conversations. It is a high-quality graduate program that is collaborative, innovative, and respectful of human and cultural diversity.

When all requirements have been completed, the three courses will appear on your KSU transcript under Personalized Learning Certificate.
