Mechanical Engineering Standing
The Mechanical Engineering Department emphasizes academic excellence for all students. Students must secure Engineering Standing before progressing to upper-division coursework. A minimum GPA of 2.7 in selected math, science, and engineering classes is required for eligibility. Please visit SPCEET Advising for the complete list of required coursework.

- Download and fill out the Engineering Standing application for your associated engineering or non-engineering major.
- Email the completed form to your academic advisor. If needed, contact SPCEETadvising@kennesaw.edu for assistance.
Apply as an Engineering Major
To apply for Engineering Standing, download and complete the application for your specific major or if you need engineering standing to pursue a minor, please fill out the standing form for non-engineering majors at the bottom of this page.
After filling out the application, email it directly to your academic advisor for processing If there are any issues with it, your advisor will respond accordingly. If you cannot find your advisor’s contact information, please email SPCEETadvising@kennesaw.edu and let us know so we can get you assigned to an advisor.

Apply as a Non-Engineering Major
Students outside of engineering programs who wish to take upper-level engineering courses as part of a minor or dual major must meet the required prerequisites and maintain a minimum 2.7 GPA in specific foundational courses. These courses include core subjects in English composition, physics, chemistry, and calculus.
Additionally, 12 credit hours must be earned from courses offered within the Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology or those with the CHEM, CS, CSE, IT, MATH, PHYS, or STAT prefixes.
