Welcome! You have come to the right page if you have the benefit of tenure but no longer the advantage of early-career opportunities.

Please browse this page to learn about the various ways in which we can support you and consider scheduling a one-on-one coaching session with us. We also encourage you to go the NCFDD website, sign up for their newsletter, and peruse their seminars.

How RD Helps Mid-Career Faculty

  • For those who have been at KSU more than eight years, you have seen the university rapidly evolve into a much more research-focused institution and the funding landscape change in response.

Schedule a one-on-one coaching session with us so we can help you develop strategies for getting funded in the current environment, tailored to your specific field and skills. For example, we can offer guidance on applying for NSF funding without RUI status. We can also help you establish a professional academic online presence that emphasizes your research skills, not just your research interests, which is more important than ever in the middle of your career. Seed funding can provide a major boost to your research efforts, so we urge you to read about our seed grants and apply through InfoReady.

  • At this point in your career, you might need to acquire new capital equipment that will expand your capabilities, productivity, and marketability as a collaborator.

Consider applying to the NSF Major Research Instrumentation Program (MRI) through our limited submission application, anticipated to be posted on InfoReady several months prior to the NSF deadline.

  • Research is becoming increasingly interdisciplinary and collaborative, so as you look to grow your research, connecting with your peers will be essential.

Consider joining one of KSU’s research communities to meet colleagues seeking meaningful interdisciplinary research experiences. Interested in mentorship? Schedule a one-on-one coaching session with us for assistance with reaching out to possible mentors or mentees. Connect with the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) and the Graduate College for help with recruiting students. Check out our page on hiring and mentoring post-docs.
