Now Partnering with Fill it Forward!
All Meal Plan holders are eligible to participate in the complimentary Takeout Club program, allowing you to conveniently take meals to go from the dining halls. To get started, sign up with the Fill it Forward app, check out a to-go box, and return it to get a new one. Please note that students without an active Meal Plan are not eligible for this program.
Partnering with Fill It Forward allows you to make positive contributions to the environment and global communities. Track your reusable container usage through the app and contribute to various charitable initiatives worldwide!
Getting Started
- Download the Fill it Forward App on your mobile device from the Google Play or Apple Store.
- Sign up using your KSU email and password. This should be the same as your Owl Express login.
- After signing up in the app, stop by the Meal Plan office on Kennesaw campus or the front desk at Stingers during office hours to set up your takeout box rental credit. The Meal Plan office manager will have you scan a unique QR code in the app and walk you through the set-up process.
- Once your set up is complete, see the cashiers. You will use one meal plan entry for take out. If you are planning on dining in and using takeout, you will use two meal plan entries. The cashiers will present you with a takeout box that has a QR code on it and you will scan the QR code with your Fill it Forward app to check out the box.
- Scan the confirmation slip given by a Dining team member and use the one-time code to set up a box rental credit.
- Scan the QR code and enter the 4-digit code at the bottom of your slip. You will see a blue check mark once the credit is on your account.
- Once the account is set up, visit the cashier and present the app to receive your box.
To Return Your Box
- Inform the cashier you would like to return your box.
- Open the Fill it Forward App and scan the QR code on the return poster.
- Scan the QR code on your takeout box. After completion, you will see a blue check mark that confirms the credit for your next box.
- Return the box to cashier.
- If you want to check out another box, you will follow the checkout process after completing their return. If you do not want another box, you will have a credit on their account for your next use.

Who is eligible for the Takeout Club program?
The program is only available to active Meal Plan holders. Residential Meal Plans, Non-Residential/Commuter Meal Plans and Faculty/Staff Meal Plans are all acceptable. You must have a Meal Plan to participate. -
Does it cost anything to join Takeout Club?
Takeout Club is free to join. However, if you lose your box or do not return it by the end of the semester, you will be charged a $15 replacement fee. -
How many Meal Plan entries (swipes) do I have to use for Takeout?
If you are only doing takeout, you need to swipe once.
If you are dining in and taking out in the same visit, you need to swipe twice. -
I have a box from the previous semester, what should I do with it?
All boxes from previous semesters must be returned to the cashiers. -
How do I check out a box?
If you have a rental credit available, ask the cashiers at the front of The Commons or the front desk at Stingers for a takeout box. Click the red barcode icon in your Fill it Forward app to open the scanner, then scan the QR code on the box provided. Now you're ready to take out!
Your credit in the Borrowed tab of the app will change to say “borrowed” or “rented” and show “0 of 1” credit(s) available. -
How do I return my box?
Bring your old box to the cashiers at the front of The Commons or the front desk at Stingers. Click the red barcode icon in your Fill it Forward app to open the scanner. Scan the return poster first, then scan the QR code on your box to complete the return.
Once complete, your credit in the borrowed tab will turn green and show “1 of 1” credit(s) available.
To check out a new box, follow the regular checkout process. -
How many boxes can I have out at a time?
Only one (1) box may be out at a time. You cannot check out a new box until you return the old one. -
How soon do I need to return my box?
When you check out a box, you will see a due date under your credit. We request that you return your box within a week. If the box is not returned by the end of the semester, a $15 late return fee will be charged to your account. You will receive reminders when it's time to return your box. -
Do I need to wash the box before I return it?
No, but we ask that you rinse out any food residue for sanitary purposes. -
What can I get with my takeout box?
You can fill your box with anything you’d like, as long as the box can be completely closed. Utensils and a drink cup will be provided with your box. -
I have a question that isn't on this list. Who can I contact for help?
You can stop by the Meal Plan office at the front of The Commons or the front desk at Stingers to get in-person assistance from the Meal Plan manager. If the manager is not available, please submit a dining contact form and they will reach out to you within 24–48 hours to assist.
