Apply to Become a Mentor or Mentee

If you're interested in becoming a True Owls mentor, you will share knowledge, offer career advice, support your mentee, and maintain open communication. Mentor applications are currently closed until July 2025. If you want to become a True Owls mentee, actively engage in the relationship, be open to feedback, and schedule meetings proactively, send your completed form application below to TrueOwls@kennesaw.edu.

Mentor Guidelines & Eligibility

Mentors should demonstrate a commitment to fostering growth and development in their mentees. This involves actively sharing knowledge, offering career advice, supporting and encouraging, and maintaining open communication. By fulfilling the following responsibilities, mentors contribute to a meaningful and productive mentoring experience. 

  • Knowledge transfer.
  • Career development advice.
  • Supporting and encouraging.
  • Open communication.
  • Commitment to the program and goals.
  • Help identify opportunities for mentees.
  • Allowing mentees the opportunity to test ideas.
  • Recommending alternative ways of handling situations.
  • Helping mentees develop contacts in the organization.
  • Guide final presentation prep.

Mentee Guidelines & Eligibility

Becoming a mentee in this program involves taking charge of your career development by actively engaging in the relationship and being proactive in your interactions with your mento. It's essential to be open to feedback, maintain clear communication, and regularly schedule upcoming meetings. Your goal is to build a constructive relationship while staying focused on what you aim to achieve from your mentoring experience.

  • Responsibilities for her/his own career development.
  • Actively initiating and engaging in the mentor relationship.
  • Facilitate and participate in the development of a constructive relationship.
  • Evaluate the mentor and program, as required.
  • Be proactive and know what you’re looking for from the relationship.
  • Be receptive to suggestions, ideas and feedback from your mentor.
  • Maintain two-way feedback and communication.
  • Proactively schedule mentor and rotational meetings.
