Making a difference in students' lives one school at a time

While an increasing number of colleges and universities have embraced the call to meet students’ basic needs, what has been missing is practical, hands-on training from experienced practitioners to move campuses from awareness to fully realized action. To fill this need, CARE Services developed the ASCEND Center, a national program evaluation and training center, focused on increasing the capacity of college personnel to identify and connect students who are homeless, need assistance meeting basic needs, and/or are foster care youth to resources on and off campus; capacity that is not otherwise provided by the state or by the colleges or universities themselves. Program evaluation and four different training levels offered through the ASCEND Center equips colleges and universities to advance the quality of services and improve college access, retention, progression, and graduation of identified student populations.

Designed for people doing the work to make a difference in the lives of students belonging to special populations. The ASCEND Center provides access to tools, network and ideas to improve programmatic efficacy and efficiency.
