Secure Funds for Your Research

The Office of Research  offers a variety of training - i.e., presentations, workshops, and Web-based resources - to guide KSU faculty in their efforts to identify, secure, and manage external funds.

The special topic sessions are usually offered throughout the semester on both the Kennesaw and Marietta campuses, and workshop announcements are posted on KSU Today.

Workshop registration or questions: Please contact Natasha Williams at nwill201@kennesaw.edu or call her at extension 3365.

Workshop Topics Include

Finding Research Funding

This workshop will provide you with tools to find potential funding sources for your research, creative, and outreach projects. You will gain insight and direction from grant research professionals and administrators who can show you what it takes to locate a viable funder. Presenters will demonstrate ways to access and utilize funding databases and other resources that are available to KSU faculty and staff. Additionally, this course will address the importance of grant guidelines in determining a fit with potential funders.

Developing Grant Budgets

Developing a budget is one of the most challenging aspects of preparing a proposal. This workshop will offer insights into the budget planning process; including determining direct costs, indirect costs and cost sharing. Participants will also learn about cost share documentation, allowable costs, budgeting for participant costs and consultants, and sub-awards.

Writing Winning Proposals

This workshop will show you how to best craft and write an effective proposal in accordance with funders' requirements, guidelines, and areas of interest. This workshop will provide you with valuable tools and information regarding how to structure and present your projects in a compelling way that tailors to the guidelines provided by a potential funding source.

Resubmitting Proposals

If you applied for a grant from NIH or NSF, don't be discouraged if you do not get funded on the first try or even your third or fourth try! National funding is very difficult to achieve and it may take several tries. This workshop will show you how to best rework a proposal for resubmission either to the original sponsor or a different one.
