2024-25 Proration Tables

  • Your vehicle’s license plate will serve as your virtual parking permit; therefore, once you have selected a permit, you also need to add the license plate information for any vehicle that you plan to drive to campus. You may link up to five vehicles that you own or operate to this permit, but only one car may be parked on campus at a time and vehicles may not be linked to more than one permit. If two vehicles are on campus at the same time, both vehicles will be considered in violation, and both will receive a citation. Note that by adding a vehicle to your account, you are claiming responsibility for any citations received by the vehicle while it is on campus. Should you wish to remove a vehicle from your account, you will need to provide appropriate documentation for that vehicle.
  • Alumni permits are only valid in visitor parking areas. Visitor parking areas on the Kennesaw Campus include the V2 Lot located outside the Central Deck on Parliament Way, the Welcome Center visitor parking lot on University Road adjacent to the Student Center, Lot J on Prillaman Way, and North Deck located at the end of Canton Place NW. On the Marietta Campus, visitor parking is located in Lot P2 off of Rossbacher Way adjacent to the Student Center, Lot P21 off Walter Kelly Road and on the second level of the P60 Parking Deck.

Parking and Transportation has the right to reserve lots for event parking on campus. Lot restrictions for an event will be posted at the entrance to the lot. Alumni permits are not valid for event parking. Event parking may be sold in advance or at the entrance on a first-come, first-served basis.

Parking and Transportation has the authority to close a lot for construction, maintenance or safety issues. Lot closures will be posted at the entrance to the lot.

  • All appeals must be made through the Parking Portal and received within 7 days of citation issuance. Appeals made by email, phone, or in person will not be accepted. If a citation is appealed within 7 days, any associated fines will be frozen until the appeal is adjudicated. Fines will not transfer to Banner, nor will they come due during this period of review. Citations older than 7 days cannot be appealed.

Appeal Approved: The associated citation will be voided and any associated fines will be reduced to $0.

Appeal Denied: The associated citation stands, and the initial fine remains the responsibility of the registered vehicle owner.

  • All unpaid citations are subject to collections through the Bursar's Office. Citations for vehicles not found in the KSU parking database shall be traced through the appropriate state's Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or Department of Drivers Services (DDS). Owner's addresses will be obtained for collection purposes. Any corresponding fees associated with tracing vehicles will be passed along to the respective vehicle owner.
  • If you have linked a vehicle to your account, you are responsible for any citations issued to that vehicle. If a vehicle is not registered to a KSU student or employee, the registered vehicle owner is ultimately responsible for a parking citation (including lost, stolen or damaged citations) whether or not the owner was operating the vehicle at the time the citation was issued.

Citations are delivered by placing them on a vehicle, by email (for registered vehicles), and/or by postal mail. Citations must be paid within 7 days of the issuance of the citation. Payments should be made online in the Parking Portal. Fines not paid or appealed within 7 days will result in a HOLD placed on a student account, or a possible wage garnishment for KSU employees. Additional information can be found on the reverse side of the citation.

  • Kennesaw State University offers Deans, University Cabinet and the President the option of purchasing a dedicated parking space. Dedicated spaces are marked with a “Permit Only” sign. Parking in these spaces is prohibited by anyone other than the permit holder.

Parking and Transportation will ticket or request towing of an unauthorized vehicle in a dedicated space at the space owner’s request. Please call the Talon One Service Center at 470-578-8663 (T-ONE) between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday through Friday to request the ticketing or towing of an unauthorized vehicle parked in a dedicated space. Outside of these hours, the space owner should park in another open faculty/staff space.

If the owner of a dedicated parking space discovers an unauthorized vehicle in their spot, they should report the unauthorized vehicle and request it to be ticketed or towed. The space owner will need to provide their name, KSU ID number, parking lot location and dedicated space number to Parking and Transportation, along with their preference to have the vehicle ticketed or towed. Also, they need to provide the color, make and model of the vehicle in the space plus its license plate number and state of issue. The space owner may leave the scene once all of the information listed above is conveyed to Parking and Transportation. The vehicle will not be ticketed or towed unless all of the information is provided.

Parking and Transportation will immediately issue a ticket and/or request a tow truck based upon the space owner’s request. Please note that the amount of time it takes for a vehicle to be towed will vary depending upon the towing company’s availability.

  • A state-issued Disabled Persons Parking license plate or placard must be displayed at all times in vehicles parked in any ADA accessible space. This state-issued placard is only valid in parking spaces that display ADA signage and markings. In the event that an ADA space is not available, a KSU parking permit is necessary to park on campus, unless the vehicle is parked in the Visitor lot and payment is submitted at the pay-per-plate station.

    Restrictions

    • Parking and Transportation has the right to reserve lots/ramps for event parking on campus. Parking may be sold in advance or at the gate on a first-come basis. Lots restricted for an event will be posted at the entrance to the lot.

    • Level 2 EV charging stations are meant to be “top-off” locations only. It is anticipated that primary charging will happen at home. There is a two-hour maximum time limit for EV charging at level 2 charging stations. Vehicles parked in a level 2 EV charging space beyond the two-hour maximum time limit are subject to citation.
    • A charging vehicle must obtain a valid KSU parking permit.
    • Charging of electric vehicles is limited to charging station spaces only. Vehicles are considered in violation of these guidelines under any of the following conditions:
      • Electric vehicles parked in nearby or adjacent spaces utilizing the charging stations will be subject to citation (defined as taking the charging cable from the charging station and using it to charge a vehicle parked in another spot).
      • Electric vehicles parked in non-charging station spots and using a regular electrical outlet for the charging of their vehicles will be subject to citation.
    • Vehicles may not be parked in EV charging spaces unless they are actively charging.
    • Vehicles will be cited if parked in an EV space while not actively charging.
    • KSU assumes no responsibility or liability for damage to vehicles using the electric vehicle
charging stations.
    • Parking and Transportation has the authority to adjust charging at their discretion, based on demand or to regulate usage.

It is the responsibility of the vehicle owner/operator to review emails and text messages regarding any deck or lot closures and act accordingly.
  • Your license plate on the back of your vehicle must be visible from the driving lane so that our scanning technology can efficiently scan your plate. Failure to do so may result in a citation. If you prefer to back into parking spaces on campus, you may purchase a front-facing license plate at one of our Talon One Service Center offices for $15.
  • Loading zones are reserved for University vehicles and other authorized vehicles on official business. Drivers of private vehicles may use loading zones for a maximum of 30 minutes during actual loading and unloading of heavy or bulky materials. Failure to move the vehicle after the allotted time may result in a citation.
  • Parking and Transportation requires all contractors and vendors working on campus for more than four (4) consecutive days to become long-term contractors and to sign up for paid contractor parking.

A Long-Term Visitor (LTV) is a hired contractor, outside vendor or temporary employee working with KSU through an approved agency. Note: All long-term visitors may be required to undergo a background check by KSU Human Resources.

The fee for paid contractor parking is $23 per month, per vehicle. Economy parking is available to long-term visitors in a limited capacity for $10 per month, per vehicle. Registered Visitor Information
  • KSU parking permit holders must park in their assigned permitted area. All registered permit holders may park at one of the following locations if the assigned area is full:

  • Motorcycles do not need a parking permit; however, motorcycle owners must register their vehicle information in the Parking Portal for safety and security purposes. Motorcycle parking is available in the lots and decks marked with an “M” symbol on the Kennesaw and Marietta Campuses. Motorcycle parking spaces are designated with signage. If the designated motorcycle parking is full, you may park your motorcycle in the hash marked sections as long as they are not blocking vehicle access or next to an ADA space. Motorcycles MAY NOT park in any regular vehicle parking space. Parking in a regular parking space may result in a citation. Motorcyclists are motorists and must follow the Georgia Vehicle Code.
  • Posting of unauthorized flyers, posters, advertisements or notices of any kind are prohibited in all parking decks, lots and buses. All unauthorized postings will be removed and discarded immediately without prior notice or warning. Learn more about advertising in our buses and at our bus shelters.

The permit allows the use of loading zones while loading and unloading and service vehicle spaces for up to 30 minutes, and any other unreserved or non-metered parking space while conducting official University business.

All OFBSs are subject to approval by Parking and Transportation. OFBS permits are virtual and must be linked to a valid Faculty/Staff parking permit. Vehicles with an OFBS parked in service vehicle spaces for more than the 30-minute limit may be cited and are subject to impoundment.

  • Any vehicle that will not fit within one standard parking space is an oversized vehicle. Oversized vehicles are not allowed in on-campus parking areas. Contact Parking and Transportation if a short-term accommodation is necessary, and an appropriate area will be designated temporarily. This accommodation will only be allowed during business hours and must not interfere with event parking operations. Oversized vehicles are not allowed overnight.
  • Parking control devices such as cones, barricades, stanchions or other blocking devices may not be used in any parking area, parking space or loading dock by individuals or departments other than Parking and Transportation and other authorized divisions. Altering any parking control devices by persons other than individuals authorized by Parking and Transportation is prohibited.
  • All parking decks and lots at KSU are permit specific and signage is color-coded to help guide you. Vehicles must be parked in the areas that correspond to their permits. Please refer to the Kennesaw Campus and Marietta Campus parking maps as a guide to where your permit is valid.

  • KSU has five dedicated Purple Heart parking spaces at the Kennesaw and Marietta Campuses reserved for campus community members who have been awarded the Purple Heart while serving our nation. Purple Heart spaces are respectfully reserved for military veterans with a Purple Heart license plate on their vehicle.
  • All students and employees parking a car on campus must register the vehicles they drive to campus and obtain a KSU parking permit. Your state-issued license plate or Parking and Transportation-issued front plate serve as our virtual parking permit and must be displayed while parked on campus. Permit holders are responsible for adding and removing vehicles to their permit. If driving a rental car, please visit the Talon One Service Center on the Kennesaw or Marietta Campus to have the vehicle temporarily added to your permit. By registering a vehicle and linking it to your account through the Parking Portal, you are claiming ownership and responsibility for any actions associated with that vehicle while on KSU property. KSU allows one vehicle per permit to be on campus at a time. If two vehicles are on campus at the same time, both vehicles will be considered in violation, and both will receive a citation. Two permits may not be assigned to one vehicle.
  • Retirees of the University who are enrolled in the Retirees Association are welcome to park in the visitor parking areas on the Kennesaw and Marietta Campuses free of charge. Retirees are to display their Association Card on their dashboard while parking in a visitor lot. Retirees not part of the Association are welcome to pay to park in the visitor lots.
  • Please visit the Talon One Service Center on the Kennesaw or Marietta Campus to have the vehicle temporarily added to your parking permit.
  • Towing may occur if a vehicle is illegally parked in a dedicated parking space or impeding traffic and is considered a hazard by the Department of Public Safety. The tow fee does not cover towing costs or impoundment fees associated with the tow truck company. In the occurrence that your vehicle is towed, you may contact the towing company and pay the fine to have your vehicle released from the impound lot.

  • Authority:
Kennesaw State University adopts these regulations pursuant to the authority conferred upon the Board of Regents to regulate the University System of Georgia Campus Traffic, Official Code of Georgia Annotated (OCGA), Title 20. These regulations supersede all previous KSU Parking and Traffic Regulations pertaining to motor vehicle operation and parking on campus.

    Application:
These regulations apply to all persons operating motor vehicles at Kennesaw State University and become part of the terms and conditions accepted by all persons permitted to operate motor vehicles on campus. Students, faculty and staff shall not operate or park any motor vehicle on campus unless qualified to do so under applicable State law and KSU regulations. The campus includes that property owned or leased by the Board of Regents and designated as Kennesaw State University. For the purpose of these regulations, a “motor vehicle” is a conveyance with two or more wheels propelled by an electric or fuel-burning motor.

University System of Georgia Parking Regulations:

    1. To facilitate a safe and orderly flow of traffic on campus, KSU adopts in full all the statutes and provisions of OCGA, Title 40, Article 10, regarding “Stopping, Standing and Parking.” When appropriate, curbs may be painted yellow to designate restricted parking as set forth by Georgia law; however, the lack of yellow curbing or restricted parking signs is not a defense for those charged with violations of state or campus parking regulations. Parking is not permitted on the grass, sidewalks, in driveways or any other area not designated for parking.
    2. Reserved parking areas include but are not limited to “faculty and staff reserved” lots, loading zones, visitor spaces and other areas marked reserved for specific persons or functions. Generally, loading zones are reserved for university vehicles and other authorized vehicles on official business. Drivers of private vehicles may use loading zones during actual loading and unloading of heavy or bulky material (30 minutes or less) with four-way flashers activated. After the car has been unloaded or loaded, the individual must move the vehicle to a legal parking space.
    3. KSU loading docks have additional requirements. Loading dock areas cannot be used without prior approval of Parking and Transportation. If a personal vehicle is parked in a loading dock area without the proper permit and/or permission, the vehicle will be ticketed and/or towed.
    4. Parking and Transportation will vigorously enforce Georgia’s “Parking Law for Persons with Disabilities” in accordance with OCGA 40-6-226. Drivers of vehicles parked in spaces designated for persons with disabilities must have a valid license plate, or display the official permit issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles for person with disabilities in full view on their dashboard or hung from their rear view mirror.
    5. An illegally parked vehicle may be impounded without notice at the owner’s expense if it presents a hazard to motorists or is obstructing traffic. Other vehicles subject to immediate impoundment or booting include, but are not limited to, those parked in marked “Tow Away Zones,” those parked in spots reserved for specific persons, and those receiving three or more parking citations (paid or unpaid).
        • Vehicles are subject to impoundment or booting immediately upon receiving the third citation. Although KSU assumes no liability for damage or losses incurred as a result of such impoundment or booting, KSU Police officers shall attempt to inventory the contents of impounded vehicle(s) in order to account for any and all valuables contained therein. However, no officer shall attempt to gain entry for inventory purposes when said vehicle(s) are locked with all windows secured.
        • Parking and Transportation will release an impounded or booted vehicle to the legal owner upon presentation of proof of ownership and payment of ALL outstanding parking fines and fees. The legal owner of the vehicle is responsible for all towing and storage charges pertaining to the impoundment.
        • NOTE: Occasionally, a driver will park illegally and then put an old or misappropriated citation on his or her windshield in an attempt to beguile officers into believing they have already received a ticket. In an effort to discourage such behavior, such vehicles are subject to immediate impoundment.
    6. Students with unpaid fines will be subject to the following sanctions: holds on class registration and release of records, and/or referral to outside collection agencies.
        • Note: If you have a HOLD on your registration, you must contact the Bursar’s office at 470-578-6013 on the Kennesaw Campus to get a list of all outstanding fees and fines.
        • Payments are to be made in the Bursar’s office, 2nd floor of the Carmichael Student Center, or online through the Parking Portal.
        • If you are on the Marietta Campus, you must call the Bursar’s office at 678-915-7216 to get a list of all outstanding fees and fines. Or you may find the Bursar’s office on the Marietta Campus on the second floor of Norton Hall (R2 building). Your hold will only be released by the Bursar’s office once a payment is made. A HOLD WILL NOT be released unless the above procedure is followed.
    7. Kennesaw State University Police or Parking and Transportation may remove or immobilize a vehicle at the owner’s expense. Repeatedly cited vehicles may have their parking privileges revoked.

    Traffic Regulations:

    1. Traffic safety on campus is everyone’s responsibility. Students, staff and faculty are expected to obey all traffic laws and practice safe driving habits while operating motor vehicles at Kennesaw State University. The maximum speed limit is 25 MPH campus-wide (unless otherwise indicated), except in parking decks and lots where it is 5 MPH. KSU is public property and all of the streets in and around campus are deemed public highways. Hence, anyone operating a motor vehicle in violation of Georgia law may be required to answer charges in State Court.
    2. Pursuant to the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, Title 20, the KSU Police are charged with enforcing traffic laws on campus. They are fully empowered to make traffic arrests for offenses committed within their jurisdiction. Questions regarding Uniform Traffic Citations may be addressed to the State Court of Cobb County, Traffic Violations Bureau.
    3. The KSU Police will investigate all motor vehicle accidents occurring on campus. For purposes of documentation, drivers are urged not to move their vehicles until after the arrival of an officer. Copies of the accident reports are usually available three (3) business days after the written request is submitted.
  • Upon receipt of the third unpaid citation, vehicles are subject to being booted and/or towed at the owner’s expense. Boot removals are available from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Please contact Parking and Transportation for a boot removal request.

Booting will be one of the final enforcement tools utilized in the process to ensure compliance with the university parking rules and regulations. KSU is authorized for vehicle removal or impoundment by Georgia Code 40-6-206 or Georgia Code 32-6-2. Kennesaw State University assumes no liability for damage to vehicles parked on KSU property or as a result of immobilization or impoundment.

The University boot fee is $60 (non-refundable) and may not be appealed.

    Vehicle Boot Removal
The driver will need to provide a KSU ID to Parking and Transportation in order to link vehicle information to the driver to process payment. Outstanding fines will need to be paid within 30 days to avoid a hold on the student’s account. If the driver is not a faculty/staff/student of KSU, they will need to provide a photo ID, email address and current telephone number to Parking and Transportation in order to set up an account within the Parking Portal to process payment. Once a vehicle is immobilized, it is unlawful to tamper or move the vehicle. Any damage caused by attempting to remove an immobilization device will be the responsibility of the vehicle owner.
