Kennesaw State University's Green Zone Training is designed to empower faculty, staff, and students who are eager to gain a deeper insight into the unique experiences of military-affiliated students. The primary objectives of this training initiative are to educate members of the Kennesaw State community about the challenges and concerns that military-affiliated students may face, as well as to identify individuals who are willing and capable of providing assistance to this important student population.

Upon successful completion of the Green Zone Training program, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to offer a compassionate and understanding presence to student veterans from all military backgrounds. They will also be proficient in helping these individuals connect with the appropriate resources essential to their successful transition from military life to the campus community at KSU.

As a tangible recognition of their commitment to supporting military-affiliated students, participants who successfully complete this training will receive a distinctive sign to proudly display in their office or workspace. Green Zone Training is an invaluable opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to gain a profound understanding of the military journey that student veterans face in these distinct ways:

  • Helping students transition from the military to campus life
  • Providing deployment and class support
  • Identifying students who need disability services
  • Supplying college credit transfers and military training information
  • Reducing and eliminating myths and stigmas associated with student veterans
  • Removing difficulties applying for college
