The Bailey School of Music is comprised of over 80 faculty and professional staff members devoted to the development of music education, performance, and scholarship within our students and community. Our faculty is well represented on the rosters of the region's top performing arts organizations, including many in principal and leadership positions with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and The Atlanta Opera.

    Dr. Nathan Nabb is the Director of the Dr. Bobbie Bailey School of Music at Kennesaw State University. Previously, he was the Director of the School of Music at Stephen F. Austin State University and has held teaching positions at Chongqing Normal University, Stephen F. Austin State University, the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Morehead State University, and the University of Illinois. Dr. Nabb’s students have won competitions both in solo and chamber music settings and have been featured in performances and master classes at North American Saxophone Alliance regional and national conferences. They are now successful performers and educators in high school and university programs around the country.

    Dr. Nabb maintains an active and multifaceted concert schedule with performances in solo, chamber, and orchestral settings, including numerous international engagements at music festivals and conservatories throughout North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. As an orchestral musician, Nathan regularly performs with the St. Louis Symphony, Houston Symphony, and Atlanta Symphony, and has also performed with the Minnesota Orchestra, New World Symphony, IRIS Chamber Orchestra, and more.

    Dr. Nabb was featured as a concerto soloist at the Region IV North American Saxophone Alliance conference and has performed at the World Saxophone Congress, North American Saxophone Alliance, Navy Band Saxophone Symposium, as well as prominent schools of music and saxophone studios throughout the United States, France, Taiwan, Japan, Spain, Greece, Norway, Canada and China.  

    Dr. Nabb received his Doctor of Music and Master of Music degrees in Saxophone Performance from Northwestern University, where he studied with Dr. Frederick Hemke and was a two-time winner of the Northwestern University Chamber Music competition.  His bachelor’s degree is from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he studied with Professor Debra Richtmeyer.

    Dr. Nabb proudly endorses D’Addario and Selmer products and performs on D’Addario reeds and Selmer Paris Saxophones.

    Audra Boyd joined the Bailey School of Music as Operations Manager in January 2021. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education where she studied violin with Dr. Michael Heald. She has a Master of Instructional Design and Technology degree from Georgia State University. She previously taught orchestra in public and private schools in the metro Atlanta area before coming to Kennesaw State University. Audra has been at KSU since 2015 and has previously worked for UITS and the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

    Collin Derrick has been writing, recording and performing music for over 20 years. From humble beginnings of layering tracks with a dual-tape-deck boombox in his bedroom to playing hundreds of shows across the Southeast to recording/mixing/producing/song writing with independent and major label artists in a variety of genres, Collin has always brought passion and excellence to his work in the music industry. In addition to his work as an engineer, Collin is an accomplished songwriter, producer and educator.

    Collin has a BM from Anderson University and an MFA in Recording Arts Technologies from MTSU. Before assuming the role of Technical Manager for the Bailey Performance Center, he was a professor of audio production for 11 years and built a reputation as a hard but fair instructor who is committed to helping his students achieve success. In his role as professor he oversaw the design and build-out of several studios and classrooms in Atlanta and Houston;  launched an annual Beat Battle competition with multi-platinum and Grammy-winning judges and sponsors like Ableton, Universal Audio and Waves; and developed and designed innovative advising and grading tools.

    Collin lives in Decatur, GA with his wife Amy their two children  Mac and Eveleen.

    Lynn Kunkel joined the staff of the Dr. Bobbie Bailey School of Music in June of 2021. She graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Voice), in 2007. Lynn has served the KSU community since 2009 in various operational roles in both AV and IT. She is currently working toward a Master of Business Administration degree through the Coles College of Business.

    Brooke Marier joined the Bailey School of Music as the Communications and Outreach Manager in September 2021. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and New Media with a Minor in Music. She has held several Communications and Marketing roles in the Metro Atlanta area and has a passion for singing.
