KSU Wellstar Crawling Infant Research Study

Crawling babies needed! Researchers at Kennesaw State University and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta are conducting infant research studies to learn more about motor development in infants who just started crawling. We will record their crawling on a special mat every two weeks until they transition to walking.

Our study hopes to provide valuable information concerning the following questions:

  • When do babies start walking?
  • What are some contributing reasons for late walking in babies?
  • Why do some babies skip crawling and transition straight to walking?

Crawling Babies Needed

Who We Need: Babies who are getting ready to start crawling or have started crawling within the last two weeks.

What is the Purpose of the Study: The study is simple. Each baby will crawl across our special pressure-sensing floor that will measure the forces they generate while they move. Then, we will measure their length and weight. Each session will take about 20 minutes.

We will provide a $20 gift card and free parking for each study session.

When Will the Study Take Place: Babies will visit the lab at Kennesaw State University every two weeks from the time they start crawling until the time they are mostly walking.

Where Will the Study Happen: Studies will take place at Kennesaw State University or at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Why Do We Need This Study: Crawling is an important part of motor development in infants. Studies have shown that approximately 93% of infants progress through at least one stage of crawling as they grow, but we actually know little about infant crawling development. This study will help us learn!
