OwlSwap educates, inspires, and empowers individuals to make the swap to live more sustainably through clothing. We create inclusive experiential learning opportunities, social equity programs, and educational events that support our campus community. We have found that when people understand the impact that clothing and textiles have on communities, the environment, and the economy, they make the swap to more sustainable habits.
Mission
Our mission is to educate, inspire, and empower others to make the swap to sustainability through fashion-focused experiential learning opportunities, inclusive programs, and educational events that promote environmental and social equity in our community.
History
OwlSwap originally started in the Geography of Clothing course at KSU taught by professor Jason Rhodes. After learning about the effects of fast fashion, students decided to find a way to combat it, by holding our first-ever clothing swap. Since its inception in 2018, OwlSwap has blossomed from a class project into one of the most active services and sustainability education programs at KSU. We have since expanded to offer a variety of programs that promote environmental and social equity in our community.
