Conducting Social Science Research
The Social Science Lab Complex (SSLC) is a facility dedicated solely to Social Sciences research.
Research spaces in the complex include labs, focus group and observation rooms, community participant waiting rooms, and a video room. While all the rooms will be extensively outfitted with resources, the five labs within the SSLC will serve as research hubs. They are strategically designed to be flexible in nature to accommodate a wide variety of future research opportunities.
Technology plays an integral role in the SSLC's design and is prevalent through the Wet and Dry Labs, Observation Room, and Focus Group Room. Each of the five features: A 55” professional grade display that can be connected to a wall-mount controller, HDMI or wireless laptop, and a desktop computer. The multi-purpose Video Recording Room and 40-seat classroom will also have this technology.
In addition to these research spaces, the SSLC will have plenty of common and individual workspaces for faculty and researchers.
Faculty can reserve rooms in the SSLC that are tailored to the needs of their research project. They will be able to list additional faculty and student researchers, both graduate and undergraduate. Prompts about Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval, Biosafety IBC approval, parking needs and required general or specific audiovisual equipment will ensure that all necessary components are present for the research activities.
