Welcome

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,

I am thrilled to begin my tenure as the Vice President for Research at Kennesaw State University. As part of my commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive research environment, I am embarking on a "Listening Tour" during my first three months in the office. This tour will provide me with a unique opportunity to engage with all members of our vibrant academic community and better understand your aspirations, concerns, and ideas related to research at our institution.

The "Listening Tour" will serve as a platform for open dialogue, allowing us to build meaningful connections and explore the possibilities for advancing research excellence together. It is through our collective knowledge, expertise, and shared vision that we can shape the future of research at Kennesaw State University.

During the tour, I intend to host brown-bag breakfasts and visit departments, centers, and laboratories across our campuses. In addition, I am eager to engage with individual researchers, faculty, staff, and students through one-on-one meetings or group discussions. To schedule time with me, either contact Executive Assistant Heather Hedgepeth at hhedgepe@kennesaw.edu

Furthermore, I encourage you to submit your ideas and feedback through the dedicated online platform we have established. Please check your KSU email account for an email from research@kennesaw.edu with the subject line 'Dr. Karin Scarpinato Listening Tour' to access the Google Jamboard.

This platform will serve as a convenient way to share your thoughts and suggestions anonymously, even if we are unable to meet in person. You will require a Gmail account to access this platform.

If you did not receive an email with directions to the online platform, please contact Communications Manager David Roberts at drobe189@kennesaw.edu for access, or if you would like the username and password of a generic Gmail account that our office created specifically for this purpose. Since this is a KSU internal exercise, please do not share this login. If the pages are getting too busy, we may, periodically, clean them up.

Your insights and perspectives will be compiled, and subcommittees appointed to prioritize and discuss implementation plans in "storyboarding workshops." I will be hosting town-hall meetings and use the above blog to communicate and update on ideas and progress.

I am particularly interested in learning about your research interests, opportunities for collaborations, as well as challenges you face, suggestions for improvements, and any initiatives you believe could propel us to new heights. I would like to have these sessions as productive as possible with tangible outcomes.

I am genuinely excited to embark on this "Listening Tour" and eager to hear from each and every one of you. Your voices matter, and your input will shape the direction and priorities of research at Kennesaw State University. Together, we can make a significant impact and drive transformative research outcomes.

Thank you in advance for your participation, and I look forward to engaging with you during this exciting journey.

Warmest Regards,

Karin
