Kennesaw State University named Military Friendly School

KENNESAW, Ga. | Apr 1, 2024

Kennesaw State University's commitment to supporting its 2,000 military-connected students has earned it a gold status designation by militaryfriendly.com in its 2024-2025 ranking of military friendly institutions.

The Military Friendly® recognition comes as the university’s Military and Veteran Services (MVS) Outreach Program has increased its efforts to provide support to its military-connected students on both the Marietta and Kennesaw campuses. Services include student support services, academic advising, and counselors.

“We are honored by this recognition which is a testament to Kennesaw State’s dedication to helping our veterans, service members and their dependents achieve their academic goals,” said Stacey Dixon, director of KSU’s Military and Veteran Services.

The university’s MVS Outreach Program helps newly enrolled undergraduate students by connecting them with officials who guide them through registration, enrollment, and the financial aid process.

The MVS has also collaborated with the Center for the Advancement of Military and Emergency Services Research to address health concerns during the transition from military to civilian culture. Kennesaw State University boasts the only VetSuccess on Campus counselor in the state, providing vital support to KSU veterans and dependents with education benefits, on-campus counseling, and employment goals.

According to the website, Military Friendly Schools “strive towards and succeed in the areas that matter most in helping veterans make the transition from the military to school and, ultimately, satisfying careers in the civilian world.” Eligibility is based on an evaluation of six key areas – admissions and orientation, culture and commitment, financial aid and loan repayment, graduation and career outcomes, and military student support and retention.
