Kennesaw State University alumnus Raymond Goslow was cheered on by the University community Tuesday night as they watched his performance in the "Jeopardy! National College Championship" final in primetime on ABC. His second-place finish didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of crowds who gathered to watch on the Kennesaw and Marietta campuses.
Lines formed at the start of the celebration on the Kennesaw campus, full of students, faculty and staff waiting to meet and congratulate Goslow, no matter the outcome of his finals performance. With every correct answer he gave during the broadcast, the crowd roared, waved their KSU rally towels and pom-poms and showed their KSU pride.
And at the end of the night, when Goslow’s second-place, $100,000 finish was revealed, he let the crowd of family, friends and fellow Owls know how much their support meant over his weeks on the show.
“Now, one of you can compete and finish what I started,” he told the students. “I got to be part of something bigger than myself, both with my fellow contestants and my fellow Owls. I know I played as well as I could and had a great time doing it, and that’s what I’m most proud of.”
KSU Interim President Kathy Schwaig said it had been a thrill to watch an Owl dominate the early rounds of the competition and make it as far as second place in the final.
“We’re always so proud of our students and what they bring to the table, and Raymond certainly delivered,” Schwaig said. “His enthusiasm, his passion, his hard work, his discipline, just his authentic self that he brought to the competition – we could not be more proud of him for the way he represented KSU on a national stage.”
In recognition of Goslow’s achievement, the KSU Foundation is providing matching funds to double the impact of the first $25,000 in new scholarship gifts celebrating him. To make a gift in celebration of Raymond Goslow, click here.
Goslow made an impressive run to the finals, often dominating the buzzer and besting opponents from Harvard, Georgetown and William & Mary among others.
The "Jeopardy!" tournament featured 36 undergraduates from across the country competing for a $250,000 grand prize and the title of "Jeopardy!" National College Champion.
