University adds nearly 100 new faculty to meet growing demand

The Class of 2023 is the largest incoming freshman class in Kennesaw State’s history.

Based on current data, the number of new freshman students enrolled for fall 2019 is close to 6,500, representing a more than 30 percent increase compared with fall 2018. Final enrollment figures will be available in October; however, this year’s freshman class is proving to be academically strong, with an average GPA of 3.4.

“Kennesaw State is a university on the move with a growing reputation as a destination campus,” said Pamela Whitten, president of Kennesaw State. “The success of our students is our primary goal. That’s why we are focused on increasing engaged learning opportunities for students that enhance what they learn in the classroom and provide them with experiences that will prepare them for future success.” 

In addition to the increase in enrollment, the University has invested in new faculty, adding nearly 100 full-time faculty this year.

“Kennesaw State is already home to highly talented and deeply dedicated faculty. To ensure that we provide every opportunity for student success, it is critical that our faculty numbers keep pace,” said Whitten. “This ensures that our students are getting the attention they need and, most importantly, that we are able to offer our students the classes necessary for them to graduate in a timely manner.”

Earlier this year, a study by U.S. News listed KSU 10th nationally and No. 1 in Georgia for admissions yield rate, meaning the percentage of students who choose to enroll once accepted. It was the second consecutive year that the University was included in the ranking.
