Owls football game, concert, parade and bonfire top celebration
Homecoming 2019 kicks off at Kennesaw State University Monday for a festive week of celebration, including a parade, concert, bonfire and an Owls home football game.
The week celebrates Kennesaw State University by uniting students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends, community members and organizations in anticipation of Homecoming Day on Oct. 12.
On Saturday, the annual Homecoming Parade will begin at 12:45 p.m. showcasing the Marching Owls, student-built floats and the KSU Homecoming Court, followed by the Owl Walk, a tailgate tradition where fans welcome Coach Brian Bohannon and the team two hours before kickoff just outside of the stadium. The Owls will take on Charleston Southern at 3 p.m. at Fifth Third Bank Stadium, and the Homecoming Court will be presented during the game’s halftime festivities.
The week’s activities kick off with field day on the Kennesaw Campus and a life-size cardboard boat regatta in which students compete to paddle their student-built boats across the Recreation and Wellness pool on the Marietta Campus.
Throughout the week, students can participate in a service project, “All Paws on Deck!” a toy craft project to benefit rescue cats of Good Mews and rescue dogs of Mostly Mutts, as well as a pep rally, cookout and team trivia night. Alumni are invited to a Scrappy Hour at Red Hare Brewing on Tuesday night.
Among other festivities scheduled this year will be a Thursday night KSU Live Concert with musical artists Max and Megan Thee Stallion at the Convocation Center at the Kennesaw Campus. Friday night events will include a pep rally and lip sync, an annual contest featuring talented performances by KSU student organizations, followed by an outdoor bonfire and food trucks at the Marietta Campus amphitheater.
The weeklong celebration schedule includes:
