Faculty Research Grants

Research and grants awarded to faculty of Kennesaw State University:

• Len Witt received $50,000 from the Anne E. Casey Foundation to support the Center for Sustainable Journalism to maintain and grow the Juvenile Justice Information Exchange and Youth Today, its two youth-oriented publications that focus on juvenile justice and child welfare issue news and information.
• Sabine Smith received $27,062 from the Herz Foundation for a project that has a twofold aim: to enable German trainees to participate in a professional development program at KSU and for KSU students to participate in an internship program in Germany. Ten to 15 German students will complete a six-week program at KSU that includes professional training, intercultural training, and language, while up to eight KSU students will complete internships in Germany during the summer of 2018.
• Gene Ray received $60,000 from Emerson Climate Technologies Retail Solutions Inc. for Center for Statistics and Analytical Research students to develop a model to improve the predictability of maintenance-related failures or process improvements in climate technologies.
• Sandip Das received $14,977 from the Environmental Protection Agency and will lead a student team in fabricating prototype working solar cells using a technology that has the potential to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and increase photovoltaic power generation capacity.
• Kate Zimmer received $10,000 through the University of Florida’s Department of Education-funded CEEDAR Center to lead KSU’s effort to provide novice teachers with a strong foundation in high leverage practices that lead to improved student outcomes.

Grants and Gifts

• John and Linda Cooke, longtime patrons of the School of Music, have contributed $165,000 to the College of the Arts to support student scholarships and faculty over the next five years. Scholarships will be given to students of the String Studio to study and play at KSU.
