Children's Healthcare names treatment areas for KSU Miracle
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta hosted a pep rally and celebration Friday in recognition of the difference Kennesaw State University students are making for local children.
Kicked off by the Kennesaw State cheerleaders and Scrappy the Owl, the celebration recognized the $215,129 donated by the KSU Miracle during its 12-month fundraising campaign. KSU Miracle, a student-run philanthropy, raises money for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta through different fundraisers during the year, the largest of which is the dance marathon in March.
As a result of the contribution, Children’s Healthcare named the KSU Miracle Rehabilitation Treatment Rooms and the KSU Miracle Sports Medicine Gym at the Children’s Healthcare Outpatient Care Center at Town Center. The new facility in Kennesaw is located across from Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
“So many kids are going to benefit from this building. Miracles will be going on every single day,” Igne Zukaraite, executive director of KSU Miracle, told the crowd gathered for the celebration. “Our money is helping make that happen.”
Zukaraite choked up as she continued, “So many lives will be changed here, and we are celebrating that today. That is awesome.”
The $215,129 collected for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta was more than three times the amount raised the previous year. A $300,000 goal has been set for the current campaign, which concludes with this year’s dance marathon on March 24.
“Of all the activities I’ve seen our students participate in, their zeal and their success for Children’s Healthcare is unmatched,” Kennesaw State President Sam Olens said. “These are students, and they raised $215,000. That’s astounding.”
