Mahlet Ekoubegzi serves as Peace Corps volunteer
Mahlet Ekoubegzi, 28, recently returned home to Austell after serving three years in the Peace Corps in southeast Africa, and has an incredible experience to share.
After graduating from Wheeler High School in 2007 and Kennesaw State University in 2013 with a major in International Affairs with a concentration on Diplomacy, Ekoubegzi accepted a position with the Peace Corps as a Community Health Volunteer.
“I was trying to figure out what it is I could do under my major. I was searching career-wise and Peace Corps sounded like an amazing opportunity,” said Ekoubegzi, whose family moved from Ethiopia to Cobb County when she was 12 years old under political asylum.
