Kennesaw State named among the top 10 “America’s Best Online Colleges”

University’s online bachelor’s degree programs recognized by bestcolleges.com

Kennesaw State University’s online learning program has earned another accolade to add to its portfolio of national rankings.

The University ranked 9th in “America’s Best Online Colleges” for 2017 by bestcolleges.com, an online provider of higher education information and resources. In 2015, Kennesaw State ranked 22nd.

Kennesaw State was recognized specifically for its accredited online bachelor’s degree programs. The University offers 12 bachelor’s degree programs, in addition to 20 fully online master’s degree programs, four specialist degree programs and two doctoral programs. The University was also ranked No. 1 for “Best Online Colleges in Georgia.”

Using data from the National Center for Education Statistics and individual colleges, the ranking assessed accredited nonprofit institutions that offer at least 10 undergraduate and three graduate degree programs online. One of the key measures analyzed affordability metrics, which indicate a college’s return on investment for potential students.

In addition to the overall national and state rankings, BestColleges.com also identified several of Kennesaw State’s online bachelor’s degree programs that earned top spots within their individual program rankings:

According to bestcolleges.com, which provides prospective students with proprietary research, guides and college rankings, online degree programs have outpaced traditional degree programs in terms of growth in the last decade. In addition, about 70 percent of academic leaders indicate that online learning is now a fundamental part of their postsecondary institution’s long-term growth strategy.

At Kennesaw State, more than 7,000 students take online courses each year, with students earning their bachelor’s, master’s, specialist and doctoral degrees without ever coming to campus. The University offers a mix of fully online, hybrid and mixed model learning formats.  In addition to degree programs, the university also offers Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) for high-need areas such as education and cybersecurity.
