    Three Kennesaw State alumni receive Fulbright awards

    Jaylen Jackson developed a love of languages as a Kennesaw State University student, and now he has received a Fulbright grant to continue toward his career goal of teaching English as a second language to adults. “Being a Fulbright recipient gives me a great opportunity to get experience and pursue my dream,” said Jackson, who will serve as an English teaching assistant at a university in Brazil for one year starting in March. “I know that a Fulbright is difficult to get, so I’m honored to be part of it.” Jackson, who graduated last year with an integrative studies degree, is one of three Kennesaw State alumni recently awarded a Fulbright to study or teach abroad.

    Southern Polytechnic State University Alumni Society invites alumni to come home

    It’s been six years since Southern Polytechnic and Kennesaw State joined forces to create Georgia’s second-largest university. The consolidation of the two schools created a total alumni base of nearly 130,000 living graduates. In recognition of the history, legacy and traditions that were an integral part of SPSU, the Kennesaw State University Alumni Association has chartered the Southern Polytechnic State University Alumni Society (SPSUAS).

    Kennesaw State's new business incubator funds six high-tech projects

    Six innovative technology startups formed by Kennesaw State students and alumni are now one step closer to thousands of dollars in funding, having cleared the first milestone in the University’s Igniting New Companies (INC) business incubator. Supported by the Mookerji Innovation Fund – a $120,000 gift to Kennesaw State from technology entrepreneurs Sid and Sophie Mookerji – the INC invites students and alumni from across the University to apply for funding and development assistance for their tech-based businesses.

    Kennesaw State graduate books gig as Georgia Symphony Orchestra executive director

    Taylor Rambo is a lifelong musician and performer. While he has always known his career would be in the arts, the Kennesaw State University Master of Business Administration graduate has discovered he prefers to work behind the scenes. Rambo, who earned his MBA from the Michael J. Coles College of Business in Spring 2021, recently was named executive director of the Georgia Symphony Orchestra. Formed in 1951, the GSO programs live orchestral, choral, and jazz performances at venues across Marietta and Kennesaw and oversees the Georgia Youth Symphony with music programs in more than 127 Georgia schools.

    Sports broadcasting executive Brandon Howell, a 1995 graduate of Kennesaw State University, didn’t know how many problems he could juggle until the past year. As it turns out, it’s a lot. In 2020, Howell and his colleagues at Atlanta-based Fox Sports South and Fox Sports Southeast were already dealing with wholesale change. The networks were sold in the late summer of 2019, and a transition away from the Fox brand was underway. Then a once-in-a-century pandemic hit.
