Kennesaw State University’s Convocation Center echoed with sounds of jubilation this week as students participated in the time-honored tradition of the Commencement ceremonies. This week, nearly 3,000 students will walk across the stage in one of six ceremonies in which undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students will be awarded degrees from the University. Enjoy this look back at the sights and sounds of the week’s festivities. Congratulations to the Class of 2022!

Kennesaw State University double alumna Stephanee Stephens has dedicated her career to enhancing education through technology, and she now is accomplishing that as part of one of the world’s top technology companies. As a modern workplace senior specialist with Microsoft, Stephens provides educational support to P-12 and higher education professionals throughout the southeastern United States. Stephens, who previously led the iTeach unit in KSU’s Bagwell College of Education, shows educators how to utilize Microsoft’s resources and technological tools to advance teaching and learning through innovative methods.

— Kennesaw State University alumna Simone Stevens is fiercely confident, and not only in her abilities as a professional dancer. However, she learned this year she can still surprise herself. She was hired this summer to join Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, an internationally renowned contemporary dance company. The job is one she had been dreaming about since early in her career as a dance student at Kennesaw State.

Jade Lugo became a researcher almost by accident. Now, the Kennesaw State 2021 biochemistry graduate has secured a postbaccalaureate research position with the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Lugo, who had pursued several majors before deciding that she wanted to be a neuroscientist, will participate in NIH’s Postbaccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award program, which allows college graduates pursuing advanced degrees to spend one to two years conducting biomedical research with leading NIH scientists.
