College and Department Faculty Councils

The primary functions of the KSU Faculty Senate are to facilitate faculty participation in the establishment of university policies for the benefit and welfare of the institution, to inquire into any matters that have implications for the academic development and functioning of KSU and to make recommendations concerning such matters, and to be a channel of communications between and among the KSU faculty and the KSU President, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and the other senate bodies.

College Faculty Councils (CFCs) and Department Faculty Councils (DFCs) are a part of the shared governance structure of KSU, authorized by vote of the faculty senate on April 17, 2007 and subsequent approval by the provost and president of the university.

CFCs are the elected representatives of the faculty at the college level. CFCs work closely with, and are advisory to the college dean.

DFCs are the elected representatives of the faculty at the department level. DFCs work closely with, and are advisory to the department chair. Some departments have voted to use a Committee of the Whole as a substitute for an elected DFC.
