Get Started with Your eCore Courses

Is eCore the right fit for you? Explore our resources to help you decide if this collaborative online learning option meets your needs. eCore courses at KSU use the GoVIEW learning management system, not D2L Brightspace, so it's essential to set up your GoVIEW login and familiarize yourself with the system. Watch for a Welcome Email from eCore two weeks before the term starts, and follow the steps to access your courses. Remember to complete the mandatory attendance activities to avoid administrative withdrawal.

For additional support, KSU offers resources to help you succeed in your eCore journey!

Review the eCore Student Success Guide for tips that will assist in having a successful semester.

  • eCore courses are located in GoVIEW, the learning management system offered by the University System of Georgia, not KSU's D2L Brightspace.
  • Approximately 2 weeks prior to the beginning of each new term, registered students will receive a Welcome Email to thier KSU email address from the central eCore office.

Students taking an eCore course or courses for the first time need to create a GoVIEW password after you register. You will not be able to set this up until after eCore sends you the Welcome Email.

    • Go to GoVIEW.
    • Click "Forgot Password" and enter your username (KSU NetID_ksu, for example jsmith123_ksu). Do not enter your student email address.
    • A password link will be sent to your campus email address. The email will be sent from donotreply@donotreply.view.usg.edu.
    • If you do not receive the 'donotreply' password link email within 24 hours, contact the eCore Helpdesk at 678-839-5300, 1-855-933-2673 or ecore@ecampus.usg.edu.
eCore courses will not be available in GoView until the official first day of class.

After receiving the eCore Welcome Letter, a tutorial course entitled the eCore Connection will be available in GoVIEW which will familiarize you with the GoVIEW learning management system.

The video below will guide you through the steps to setting up your GoVIEW login. Please note: KSU students need to reset the password as demonstrated in the second half of the video.

  • All eCore courses require student activity before the participation deadline to determine student presence.  Failure to do so will result in automatic administrative withdrawal.

    Attendance Verification and Participation Deadline:

Students must log into their eCore class by the Participation Deadline and complete the eCore Mandatory Attendance Quiz and Introduction Discussion Activity.

If these two activities are not completed by the deadline, students will be reported as non-attending by the professor. Students reported as non-attending will be administratively withdrawn from the course.

Students enrolled in more than one eCore class must complete the attendance quiz and discussion activity in each class they are enrolled in.

To be counted as 'present', follow these steps:

    • Log into GoVIEW using the information found in the eCore Welcome Email.
    • Take the Mandatory Attendance Quiz in each eCore class registered.
    • Complete the Introduction Discussion Activity in each eCore class registered.

    Reported as Non-Attending in Error:

Students receiving an email from the eCore Administration Office stating that they have been reported as non-attending in their eCore course, who have completed the above requirements and think the non-attendance report is in error should contact their instructor immediately

If the student was marked non-attending in error the instructor will submit an official reinstatement form allowing the student to remain in the course.

Register For Classes

Before You Register!

BEFORE you will be able to register for an eCore course, you must first successfully complete the eCore Introduction Quiz (required for all new eCore students). The orientation is required ONLY one time. After you complete the quiz, you will receive an email to your KSU student email address with additional information. Please allow 2 hours after completion of the quiz for the completion information to be uploaded to our system, which will allow you to register for eCore sections.

Any student who has NOT completed the eCore orientation, will receive a Student Attribute Error when attempting to register for eCore classes.

*Under the Registration Error Messages, we need to add additional items.

*I list 2 hours because I think it only takes an hour compared to 24 hours that were listed on the other notes.

Registration Tips

  • To register, log into Owl Express with your KSU Net ID and password. Students register for eCore courses in OwlExpress the same exact way they do any other KSU course.

The Registrar's Office has published registration guidelines and tips on the Student Registration page. Please review this information carefully for registration tips, guides, and troubleshooting!

  • A student who has not completed the eCore Orientation will recieve an attribute error when attempting to register for eCore classes.

A student who has not satisfied the course prerequisite will receive a prerequisite error when attempting to register for eCore classes. eCore website

If you believe you are getting either message in error, please reach out to ecore@kennesaw.edu or 470-531-2186.

  • eCore adds seats to course sections based on demand. A seat balancer runs every 10 minutes so if a section appears full, please check back in a few minutes for available seats. Courses do not have unlimited seats, though, so they can eventually fill up near the beginning of a semester.

The number of section seats shown in Owl Express are the number of seats currently allotted to KSU and not the total number of seats in the eCore course section.

  • The eCore Academic Calendar is not the same as the KSU Academic Calendar.  Students enrolling in eCore courses must adhere to the eCore calendar
    • Learning Support requirements must be satisfied prior to enrollment in eCore courses.
    • You must satisfy all KSU registration holds prior to registering for an eCore course.
    • All prerequisites for the eCore course must be satisfied prior to registration. eCore courses have the same prerequisites as the equivalent course at KSU. For a list of equivalent courses and prerequisites please see the eCore/KSU Course equivalencies table.
    • eCore online courses are designated with a section code of 'G', ie ENGL 1101/1BG.
