Services and Activities

The Internal Audit Center (IAC) in the Coles College of Business provides services and/or activities in three areas including:

  1. Undergraduate and Graduate Advising
  2. IAEP Certificate Education
  3. Connection to the Profession

Advising

The IAC encourages current students and prospective students to contact the IAC Director, Brad Schafer, to learn more about the vast opportunities available to those who bring a strong work ethic, integrity, and interest in adding value to organizations with knowledge of accounting, auditing, and information systems. Dr. Schafer will gladly assist you in planning a study program based on your interest and experience to best suit your career objectives, possibly including experiential education opportunities (internships) in internal audit for Georgia companies.

IAEP Certificate

As an IAEP program “Center of Excellence”, students can earn an IAEP Certificate for successfully completing a specified set of courses. In the undergraduate program, students who complete three courses including Internal Auditing (ACCT 4152), Accounting Data Analytics (ACCT 4550), and Fraud and Forensic Accounting (ACCT4800) may apply for the IIA’s IAEP Certificate through the IAC.

Graduate students in the MAcc who successfully complete the Audit/Advisory track take the requisite coursework to earn the IIA’s IAEP Certificate. If you are interested in pursuing internal audit education at the graduate level, apply to the School of Accountancy Master of Accounting Program at Coles College of Business. If accepted to the program, choose the Audit/Advisory Specialization. See the Graduate Catalog for more information.
