About the Internal Audit Center (IAC)

The IAC is the educational link driving KSU’s engagement in Internal Audit education. To make the IAC a true “Center of Excellence”, we partner with the global IIA, the IIA Atlanta Chapter, and specific corporations and professional service firms to:

  1. Provide Internal Audit curriculum to prepare students for careers in IA and related fields
  2. Connect students to the profession
  3. Engage in scholarly output

Internal Audit Curriculum

The curriculum of the School of Accountancy at KSU includes specific courses and content to prepare students ready for entry to professional careers. This includes curriculum that conforms to the IIAs global standards as part of the IAEP program. From undergraduate accounting information systems, auditing, internal auditing, and data analytics, to the graduate coursework in the Audit/Advisory track of our Master of Accounting (MAcc) program, students receive a strong knowledge base to enter the Internal Audit profession. Connecting students to the profession

The IAC engages students in a local to global profession. The Global IIA and the IIA Atlanta Chapter have provided over $150,000 in grants to support the IAC over the past decade. The IIA Atlanta Chapter, and its membership, have teamed with KSU for over ten years to grow the visibility and opportunities for a student to enter the Internal Audit profession. Additionally, as part of the IIA’s IAEP program, our students are selectively given the opportunity to travel to the IAEP Exchange, a leadership conference drawing students from across the globe to network and learn about the profession. Georgia-based companies and professional service firms actively engage with the IAC to find well-prepared graduates and internship candidates. 

Engaging in scholarly output

The School of Accountancy, and specifically the IAC faculty, embrace a full balance of teaching, service, and research in the audit area. From basic and applied research to educational scholarship, our faculty maintain a high level of activity that is regularly accepted for conference presentations and scholarly academic publication. Through the support of KSU, the Coles College of Business, the Global IIA, and the IIA Atlanta Chapter, the faculty has produced an impressive list of professional presentations and journal publications.
