Conducting Engineering & Computer Research

The Electrical and Computer Engineering R&D Center (ECEC) strives to achieve innovations through research, projects, and industry collaboration. The center consists of engineering laboratories, dedicated research areas and apparatuses, and maker’s space for system/product prototyping.

The ECEC provides emphasis in electrical and computer engineering throughout the curriculum for KSU students by partnering with a wide variety of departments across campus. Through online educational resources and continuing education courses, the knowledge and expertise within the ECEC is disseminated to the surrounding community.

Mission and Goals

Mission

The mission of the Electrical and Computer Engineering R&D Center (ECEC) is to achieve innovation through research, engage in educational outreach programs, and promote good practices in electrical and computer engineering related fields. The ECEC will continually seek outside funding to support its activities and will strive to enhance KSU student degrees by coordinating a degree emphasis on electrical and computer engineering across the campus.

To meet this mission, the following steps will be taken:

  • Seek a number of grants to support basic research in electrical and computer engineering.
  • Develop a campus-wide partnership with a variety of departments to offer courses that educate and engage students in topics related to electrical and computer engineering.
  • Promote tours of our research facilities for K-12 students, KSU students, and the general public.
  • Work with other universities, research agencies, local authorities, industry, and individuals to clearly identify the pressing needs in Georgia for electrical and computer engineering related fields.

Goals

  • ECEC will conduct a coordinated and extensive program of research to design, develop, model, and evaluate new technology, techniques, and procedures. Research will focus on innovative new technologies and techniques that will help to establish us as a true innovation center.
  • The ECEC will coordinate a degree emphasis in electrical and computer engineering by partnering with a wide variety of departments across campus. This emphasis will provide a well rounded approach to education by encouraging exploration of diverse perspectives.
  • The ECEC will become a center for electrical and computer engineering research and development. Through online educational resources and continuing education courses, the knowledge and expertise within the ECEC will be disseminated to the surrounding community. The KSU community will also benefit since the ECEC will help augment existing courses on campus by supplementing classroom learning and laboratory exploration.

Research

Since the main purpose of the Electrical and Computer Engineering R&D Center is to explore innovations in electrical and computer engineering related fields, we put a great deal of importance in research that explores unusual applications of advanced technologies.
