Access 3D Printing Services & Resources

Find information for teaching 3D printing, researching using 3D printing, and performing contract work for outside companies.

The 3D Printing Ecosystem (3DPE) is a collaborative effort amoung multiple college on the Kennesaw and Marietta campus. Each location is designed to support the classroom implementation of 3D printing into the curriculum. CAD design is an integral part of the development of each space along with 3D printing. The needs for each college are different and each space will grow based on the individual requirements. For example, Architecture houses laser cutters and vacuum forming equipment; Art and Engineering have additional 3D scanning equipment; Business has equipment to make t-shirts. Stop by one of the locations to find out more.

Kennesaw State University 3D Center houses professional 3D printers and 3D scanners for prototyping, tooling and reverse engineering applications. Students taking Mechanical Engineering Technology, Engineering Design Graphics, and/or Manufacturing Engineering Technology courses apply direct digital manufacturing methods to take advantage of design and manufacturing freedom afforded by additive manufacturing.

The 3D Center also works with outside customers, individual students, and other departments that are applying 3D printing and 3D scanning to their product design cycle.  We provide workshops, seminars, and informational sessions to those just getting started.

Mission & Goals

The 3D Center is housed in the Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology. The Center is dedicated to the promotion and expansion of additive manufacturing (3D Printing) and related technologies to the College, University, Community, State, Nation, and World. The strategic mission addresses three areas of concentration.

  1. Teaching: To provide additive manufacturing (3D Printing) capabilities across curricula at KSU.
  2. Research: To support research activities through additive manufacturing applications.
  3. Contract: To perform engineering design and additive manufacturing contract services for industry.

Research

The 3D Center is dedicated to supporting additive manufacturing application research. Additive manufacturing processes, materials, and Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) are just three areas the center emphasizes. Faculty may collaborate with the center in a variety of ways:

  • 3D Printing application identification
  • Engineering design support
  • Partnering on grants

If you would like to incorporate 3D printing into your Research please contact 3dcenter@kennesaw.edu

Commercial Services

The 3D Center works with outside business and industry on contract services involving engineering design, 3D scanning, and 3D printing. We also provide consultation on implementation of additive manufacturing into your business. You can contact the 3D Center at 3dcenter@kennesaw.edu to discuss your specific application and how we can meet your needs.
