ALG Grants

Information Technology department received two ALG (Affordable Learning Georgia Affordable Materials) grants. Dr. Maria Valero

National Institute of Health Grant

Dr. Maria Valero, Ph.D. received a Iarge grant award for 1 year from National Institute of Health (NIH) and National Institute of Aging (NIA) A2 Pilot Program. The grant funding has been awarded  to run pilot experimentation of the GlucoCheck device, including data from older adults, improvement of the AI model, and user acceptance of the device. Co-Investigators in this project include; Dr. Katherine Ingram (WellStar College) and Dr. Hossain Shahriar, Dr. Spoletini 

New Roles

Congratulations to Dr. Lei Li and Dr. Paola Spoletini who moved into their permanent roles December 1st. Dr. Li is the new Associate Dean of Student Success and Dr. Spoletini is the new Associate Dean of Research!

Congratulations!

  • Congratulations to the winners in the School of Data Science and Analytics. They had two project classes this semester where students were broken up into teams to work on a specific data analytics project. The winning teams received a cash prize.
  • DS 7900, taught by Bill Franks, was sponsored by Travelers Insurance. The winning team comprised of Jackie Fried, Braden Stonehill and Ebere Ogburu.
  • STAT 7940, jointly taught by Sherry Ni and Gene Ray, gave prizes to the two top teams.  First place went to Srivatsa Mallapragada, Caleb Greski, and Nathaniel Jones.
  • Second place went to Mallika Boyapati and Catrice Taylor.  Sponsored by Southern Company.
