November Achievements Faculty, Staff and Students. CONGRATULATIONS and WELL DONE!
Tu Nguyen, and his research team received a competitive grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to develop the first comprehensive framework for a new way of computing and networking. They will work on quantum-era computing and networking systems, which involves a completely different type of computing and networking technology than we currently know and use.
Dr. Huang was awarded a 3-year grant from Binesoft LLC. This project will investigate a secure algorithm to collect accessing data from a local network environment and generate a better commercial operation solution by combing collected networking data with business data.
Dr. Sarah North was awarded ALG (Affordable Learning Georgia) grant for a course for Continuous Improvement for the 2023 academic year which supports projects that increase the sustainability of open educational resources (OER) through substantial revisions and the creation of new materials.
Shanoe Smith, CCSE Academic Advisor, received Star Staff of the Season award which recognizes employees who have gone above and beyond in their professional, community and collegian engagement at KSU. This award is only given 4 times a year.
Pablo F. Ordonez was awarded a patent for work to detect Microaneurysms on fundus retinal images, which represents less than 1% of the whole image. While most of the studies focussed on detect advanced stages of DR, this study was oriented to detect lesions with a size of 10x10 pixels in an image of 2000x2000 or more pixels.
The study created novel techniques of imagining processing, and a combination of Deep Learning architectures and biostatistics to detect those lesions.
Dr. Maria Valero, Ph.D. received a Innovation Seed Grant provided by the Office of Intellectual Property to improve innovation that potentially can hit the market soon. This was awarded in association with GLUCOCHECK: A NON-INVASIVE AI-POWERED BLOOD GLUCOSE MONITOR. Dr. Katherine Ingram from WellStar and Dr. Hossain Shahriar are also involved int he project.
Congratulations Sumanth Yenduri, Dean of the College of Computing and Software Engineering for being named to the University System of Georgia's 2022-23 Executive Leadership Institute.
