The Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) held their yearly data analytics competition this month, and our team placed second! This year’s problem challenged students to develop adata analytics modelthatexamines the potential impact on banks from the recent rapidly rising interest rate environment and to provide insights on how they should prepare. The team consists of faculty advisor Dr. Sherry Ni and Ph.D. students Askhat Yktybaev, Mohammad Naser and Namazbai Ishmakhametov. Askhat and Namazbai are Ph.D. students in Data Science and Analytics, and Mohammad is a Ph.D. student in Interdisciplinary Engineering.
Dalton Shaver is the first runner up in the Undergraduate Division of the Symposium of Student Scholars Spring 2023 (SSS). Dalton is the FIRST UNDERGRADUATE student from the Kennesaw State University - School of Data Science and Analytics to ever place in SSS
Sreekanth Gopi, a graduate research assistant of Dr. Nasrin Dehbozorgi, and his team have won first place in the Transatlantic AI hackathon. The competition was an international event, which brought together global developers and entrepreneurs from various industrial backgrounds to develop an AI Machine Vision solution to improve the quality control processes in industrial textile manufacturing. The team’s developed model is capable of detecting specific types of defects such as missed stitches and holes with high speed and accuracy, utilizing the INTEL OpenVINOTM toolkit, Luxonis DepthAI, and OAK-D-Lite spatial AI camera.
