Department of Theatre & Performance Studies

We are excited to give you the opportunity to experience technical and artistic growth in an environment that fosters creativity and learning.
Our three concentrations (in your choice of Acting, Musical Theatre, or Theatre Design and Technology!) will be separate, but will come together at several points each day, culminating in a spectacular performance at the end of the week featuring the integration of all the concentrations.
The Theatre intensives will run June 2-6, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m; the Overnight Add-On Option runs June 1-6. Open to rising 9th - 12th grade students.
SPECIAL NOTE: For all Theatre participants, there will be placement auditions on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 3:30-5:00 p.m. If you are staying on campus, you and a parent/guardian must also attend a required orientation at 5:15 p.m.

ACTING

Cost: $325, lunch includedImmerse yourself in the actor’s craft! If you’re dedicated to the art of acting, this five-day program is for you.
You’ll collaborate with like-minded peers and be taught by the accomplished professional theatre artists of KSU’s award-winning performance faculty and distinguished guest artists. Training is centered on the actor's approach and process.
The five-day session will culminate in a performance project/showcase in collaboration with the other theatre intensives.The intensive is open to rising 9th - 12th grade students. DESIGN/TECH
Dates: June 2-6, 2025
Times: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Cost: $325, lunch includedJoin us for an exciting week learning all about different aspects of theatre design and technology and working backstage!
Each day of the week will focus on a different aspect of backstage work. We will cover scenic, costume, lighting, props, and sound (and maybe even a little more).
Days will be largely composed of hands-on work in the various areas, theatres, and classroom spaces of Kennesaw State University’s Department of Theatre and Performance Studies.
You may use this week as an opportunity to dip your toes in the water of many different aspects of technical theatre and design. The week-long session will culminate in a final showcase day in collaboration with the Acting and Musical Theatre intensives.The intensive is open to rising 9th - 12th grade students. MUSICAL THEATRE

Cost: $325, lunch includedThe KSU Summer Musical Theatre Intensive offers a one-week, program for high school students who are serious about honing the necessary skills to perform in musical theatre on the collegiate level. Acting, dance, and vocal skills workshops will be led by KSU faculty and local professionals. The week-long session will culminate in a musical theatre presentation performed by the workshop participants.
The intensive is open to rising 9th - 12th grade students. Deadline is May 1 or until filled. Please register early as space is limited. OVERNIGHT Add-On Option (below) deadline is March 1.

Stay with us ON CAMPUS during your Theatre Summer Intensive! The Overnight Add-On Option includes all meals and accomodations.Note: You must register for the Theatre Summer Intensive of your choice before adding the option to stay overnight.
