Nominate a Staff Member for an Award

These awards will be presented in May 2024.

The deadline to nominate is March 31, 2024.

The Global Education Staff Awards Program promotes and rewards outstanding contributions by staff members in the office. Read below to learn the details of each award.

The Four Award Categories are:

  • The STAR Award acknowledges a team member who establishes and maintains positive and effective working relationships with team members and customers. The team member is dedicated to continuously improving customer satisfaction and exceeding expectations  to increase office customer service standards.

    Criteria:

    The employee must demonstrate a combination of the following and examples must be included with nomination submissions:

    • Goes above and beyond to create a welcoming environment for customers and coworkers
    • Consistently displays a positive attitude and maintains a high level of professionalism even under the most difficult circumstances
    • Focuses on eliminating barriers for customers by effectively and efficiently communicating, collaborating, and addressing customer needs.
    • Demonstrates creativity or resourcefulness in assisting customers above and beyond the call of duty, while adhering to department policies and protocols
    • Takes ownership of problems and follows through until completion and/or resolution
    • Serves as a role model to students and/or coworkers through positive interactions with internal and/or external customers

    NOMINATION FORM

  • Recognizes a team member who highlights the power and potential of collaborating with others and works to develop innovative programs, practices, policies, and/or activities that help to achieve office strategic goals or improve processes. The team member should be an effective collaborator who works with others to produce positive results while demonstrating outstanding creativity when confronted with challenges. This team member is in tune with the office’s needs and works diligently to create opportunities to enhance visibility and function.

    Criteria

    The employee must demonstrate a combination of the following and examples must be included with nomination submissions:

    • Accomplishment achieved through a team or collaborative effort
    • Actively contributes and builds a culture of inclusiveness
    • Works effectively as a part of team to accomplish task or goal
    • Creates a team environment that promotes trust and communication
    • Solicit diverse views in completing projects
    • Shares knowledge or information contributing to group success
    • Proactively identifies novel, creative ways to improve upon processes or service delivery
    • Implements change in a positive manner and strives to ensure its success
    • Demonstrates ability to stir the pot for positive, fresh impact
    • Approaches problem-solving with a solution orientation

    NOMINATION FORM

  • A strong leader demonstrates a unique ability to guide and inspire others, which in turn contributes to the effective and efficient functioning of the office. This award recognizes a team member who, regardless of their role, demonstrates an aptitude for and commitment to professional growth and provides leadership that is impactful, effective, motivational, and consistent.

    Criteria:

    The employee must demonstrate a combination of the following and examples must be included with nomination submissions:

    • Inspires and encourages personal and professional development in others
    • Builds strong relationships that support a high level of trust and credibility
    • Adapts readily to new situations
    • Effectively persuades others using keen organizational awareness
    • Mentors and cultivates employees, creating a culture of respect that fosters an atmosphere conducive to achievement
    • Contributes to the success of an initiative that benefits those within the unit/division or other units across campus
    • Manages and/or champions change effectively through formal or informal leadership
    NOMINATION FORM
  • The Staff Excellence Award is to recognize exemplary performance by a team member who has consistently excelled in their position and demonstrated integrity and a strong commitment to the mission, strategic goals and values of the office.

    Criteria:

    The staff member should exemplify many of the qualities listed in each of the four award categories: Customer Service; Collaboration and Engagement; Excellence in Leadership; and Innovation Award.

Eligibility and Awards

Monetary award: A one-time payment for exceeding performance expectations.

  • Outstanding Staff Member Award recipient will receive $1250*
  • All other categories will receive $750*
  • Professional certificate for the award winner
  • Announcement/Presentation at Staff meeting

*Incentive payments will be processed through payroll. Payments are included and taxed as salary in the pay period issued.

Nomination Process

Current team members of Global Education (staff or faculty) can submit nominations. Self-nominations for eligible team members will be accepted, and all nominations will be confidential. For the inaugural year, the Global Education Leadership Team will select award recipients based on the criteria for each category. In the following years, a committee comprised of previous staff award winners and one member of the Global Education Leadership Team (committee chair) will review nomination submissions and select the winners for each category according to the criteria listed.
