Last October, the KSU University Libraries celebrated Open Access Week! Throughout the week, we hosted 12 presentations. Our speakers presented from universities across the nation with focuses on open education courses and textbooks, open access scholarship, and accessible archives and repositories. There were 205 attendees, including international participants!

As part of KSU’s Open Access Week, our Scholarly Communications team created and hosted the library’s first open access themed escape room! Twenty-four eager students participated throughout the day on Friday, October 27th to help their fictional professor turn in grant paperwork before the impending deadline. While students worked to solve puzzles and find clues, they learned about open access and open scholarship practices. The winning group of students was able to escape the room in only ten minutes!
Thank you to Chelsee Dickson, Heather Hankins, and Rachel Schrauben Yeates for hosting Open Access Week and All Things Open Week!
