Why Study Instructional Technology?

Expanding your instructional technology skills and credentials can broaden your career options and earning potential. At KSU, you’ll learn to:
  • Effectively utilize technology to support student learning
  • Teach technology applications
  • Provide professional development, mentoring/coaching, and technology assistance to other teachers so they can effectively apply technology to facilitate P-12 student learning.

Career Options in Instructional Technology

With KSU's Instructional Technology coursework, you can use technology effectively to improve the teaching and learning process in your classroom.

You'll also learn to effectively teach other educators how to utilize technology. You'll learn to model best practices and provide high-quality professional learning experiences. With these skills and experiences, you may choose to pursue content-related leadership positions, such as math/science coordinators, ELL coordinators, professional development specialists, etc.

More advanced study can also open doors to leadership positions on the school, district, state, or national level or in educational service agencies. With a more advanced ITEC degree, you will be prepared for the increasing responsibility of senior technology leadership positions. Both Advanced Track programs are based on the ISTE Standards for Technology Directors and the CoSN Framework of Essential Skills for K-12 CTOs. Today's educational technology leaders are known by many different titles such as Technology Director, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Information Officer (CIO).

With fully online program offerings at the Master’s, Specialist and Doctoral level, you can DEGREE UP at Kennesaw State and continue to enhance your background, experience, classroom impact and earning potential as you move through your career as an educator.
