NIL for F-1 Student Athletes

The U.S. government has not provided guidance or regulations regarding Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) eligibility for F-1 student visa holders. Current federal regulations prohibit off-campus employment or earning income in the U.S. without Curricular Practical Training (CPT) or Optional Practical Training (OPT) for F-1 students. Due to the absence of federal guidance on NIL for F-1 visa holders, the KSU ISSS office cannot offer advice on this matter. It is strongly recommended that students consult a qualified immigration attorney to explore any potential legal NIL benefits while on an F-1 visa in the U.S.
