The Department of Geography and Anthropology at Kennesaw State University cordially invites you to attend: GSS Night 2024!
The Geospatial Sciences program at Kennesaw State University will celebrate GIS Day on Monday, November 11, 2024. Our Geospatial Sciences program, located in the Department of Geography and Anthropology in the Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences, has shown innovative application of technology, data collection, and geospatial information visualization through GIS technologies, used in the classroom and beyond.
This November, our GIS program – our students, faculty, alumni, and the associated community that supports us - will join hundreds of organizations from North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia in hosting gatherings that will serve to ignite the imagination of the future geospatial innovators who will move the planet forward using GIS. To see where a local GIS event is held near you, visit the GIS Day Map.
Join GSS/GIS students, alumni, faculty, friends and the GIS community for an assortment of food, friends, games, awards and fun! Beer is available for purchase for those over 21.
GIS Day is a day dedicated to showing, teaching, and inspiring others. Check out how to host an event to spread enthusiasm and help people learn how to use GIS for work, school, and in hobbies and interests.

Learn MoreGIS Day provides an international forum for users of geographic information systems (GIS) technology to demonstrate real-world applications that are making a difference in our society.
Over 18 years ago, consumer advocate Ralph Nader presented an idea to Esri founder and president Jack Dangermond: dedicate one day to show how geographic intelligence touches everyone. That led to the establishment of the first GIS Day in 1999. The explosion of geospatial technology since then has expanded that idea into a global event that demonstrates how far GIS extends into people's lives, and a forum for users to showcase their unique GIS accomplishments.
This is an amazing event where all our users around the world get together to appreciate each other's work, whether it's jumping to action as first responders in flood zones and wildfires, or finding the best place to open a new business," said Dangermond. "We should be proud of the achievements our users make in the field of GIS, and this is a way to celebrate that. So thank you for all your work.
GSS Night @ KSU is our yearly gathering to celebrate All Things Geospatial! Students, faculty, alumni, and geospatial professionals to come together to appreciate, commemorate and commend individuals who work and study in the fields of GIS, remote sensing, cartography, land surveying and more.
Here is your opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to the KSU geospatial program and to the geospatial community in the metro Atlanta area. With your help, we can keep the support this yearly tradition and our students that become the next geospatial workforce. *All monies go to the GSS Night @ KSU fund.
