Career and Academic Opportunities

The Master of Science in Intelligent Robotic Systems is a multi-disciplinary degree that prepares students to work in automation, advanced manufacturing, and robotics. The degree is a natural follower of the Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics. The program in Intelligent Robotic Systems teaches students advanced topics such as control of autonomous robotic arms, simulation, the Robot Operating System (ROS), machine learning, and computer vision. Graduates can find jobs in robotics, nanotechnology, automation, or biomedical systems. The accelerated pathway will give students a unique preparation for advanced positions, such as control system engineer, design engineer, or instrumentation engineer.

Admission Requirements

  • KSU GPA of at least 3.20
  • 60 hours completed towards a bachelors degree
  • 12 hours completed in residence at KSU

Double Counted Courses Include

Students may choose from the following courses using one of the two options below.  The courses will count for the MTRE Technical Electives

  • MTRE 6300
  • MTRE 6710
  • MTRE 6720
  • MTRE 6740
  • MTRE 6750

There are 2 options:

Option 1: take three 67xx courses to count for their nine technical elective credits.

Option 2: take two 67xx courses for six tech-elective credits, plus take 6300 to count for MTRE 3810. Note that choosing this option would still require BS MTRE students to take MTRE 3810L
