Career and Academic Opportunities

With the emphasis on state-of-the-art statistical methods and experience with real-world data, graduates will be well positioned to assume careers in business, healthcare, governmental agencies, market research, and academia. The U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics projects job growth for data scientists, statisticians and industrial engineers to far exceed the average for all occupations in the next ten years. Careers open to students with an MS in Statistics include Market Research Analyst, Operations Research Analyst, Statistical Consultant, Insurance Industry Statistician, and Biostatistician among others. Students with a BS degree in ISYE along with a MS in Data Science and Analytics may also choose to pursue further graduate study in Engineering or Statistics (for example in KSU's PhD in Analytics and Data Science or PhD in Interdisciplinary Engineering). See https://www.bls.gov/ooh/math/mathematicians-and-statisticians.htm, https://www.bls.gov/ooh/math/data-scientists.htm for further salary and job growth data.
