Together, a BSSOCI and MSCJ degree will provide students with the knowledge and skills to have impactful and rewarding careers in the criminal justice system. With mastery of theoretical and practical knowledge of social diversity and criminology, graduates of this Double Owl Pathway will be prepared for advanced, supervisory, and leadership careers in the criminal justice field.Graduates of this pathway will be prepared to obtain a wide range of careers including but not limited to the management of criminal justice organizations, state and federal criminal investigation, and policy implementation/data analysis. Students completing this degree track will also achieve skills to promote their success in continued academic achievements such as the pursuit of a law degree or a PhD.

Admission Requirements


Double Owl Admission Requirements 
  • Admission to the Sociology undergraduate program. For more information on specific classes, see our Sociology degree information in the KSU Undergraduate Catalog.  The B.S. in Sociology program website is available here:  https://radow.kennesaw.edu/scj/programs/bss.php 
  • GPA:  3.25 in KSU undergraduate coursework
  • 60 hours completed toward Bachelor’s degree (i.e., BS Sociology degree)
  • 18 hours completed in residence at KSU
Double Counted Courses Include
  • CRJU 7702 to count for Upper-Division Elective
  • CRJU 7706 to count for Upper-Division Elective
  • CRJU 7703 or CRJU 7704 or CRJU 7705 to count for Upper-Division Elective

Suggested Timeline

Apply to Double Owl early in Junior year. Apply to Graduate Program in Senior Year by posted graduate program deadline.  Students can be identified in Sophomore year and early Junior year (i.e., once students meet -- or are close to meeting --- credit hour and other requirements).
