Video Captioning and Audio Descriptions
The DLI provides video captioning services to ensure that video content is accessible to students with hearing impairments. They can add accurate closed captions to videos, making the audio information available in text form. Additionally, the DLI can create audio descriptions for videos, which provide narrated descriptions of visual elements, benefiting students with visual impairments. -
One-on-One Consultations
Faculty and staff can request one-on-one consultations with instructional designers from the DLI team to receive personalized assistance with accessibility issues. These consultations can help them understand and address accessibility challenges in their course materials, such as formatting documents with proper heading structures, providing alternative text for images, and ensuring that interactive resources are accessible. -
Course Review for Accessibility
The DLI offers course review services to evaluate online courses for accessibility compliance. Their instructional designers can assess course materials, including documents, videos, and interactive resources, and provide recommendations for improving accessibility. This service helps ensure that online courses are designed to be inclusive and accessible to all students, regardless of their abilities.
