Bachelor of Science in English Education

The English Education degree prepares you to teach English Language Arts at middle and high school levels. When you graduate, you will be able to meet all of the Georgia teacher certification requirements in high demand in school districts throughout the state.

With the English Education degree, you'll develop a broad, rich knowledge of the discipline of English grounded in current research and theory in anti-racist teaching and culminating that helps you build your skills in a yearlong student teaching placement. This program prepares you to be a critically minded and creative teacher capable of developing lessons and projects to help your future students become skilled, confident, and ethical users of the English language.

You'll engage in courses like British, American, and world literature, linguistics, digital media, and writing to further your understanding of the English language.
The B.S. in English Education is fully accredited by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GAPSC) for teacher certification and nationally recognized by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).
