Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Kennesaw State University offers undergraduate programs B.S. in chemistry (including concentrations in forensic chemistry and pharmaceutical chemistry), B.S. in biochemistry, and a graduate program, M.S. in chemical sciences.

The department has been continuously accredited by the American Chemical Society (ACS) since 1987 and students completing a baccalaureate degree that meets the ACS Guidelines will receive an ACS-certified degree. All of the degree concentrations could include the course work and experience necessary to satisfy requirements for ACS certification with proper choice of supporting discipline elective credits.

We have a bright and energetic faculty and a dedicated, helpful professional staff who are all available to assist our students as they grow and mature as scientists. The faculty members have research interests that span all of the traditional sub-disciplines of chemistry (analytical, biochemistry, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry) as well as interdisciplinary and translational research projects. Undergraduate research is a critical component of our students' preparation and training, and all of our tenure track faculty members engage in undergraduate research.
