Dr. Mikhail I. Melnik with nearly two decades of forecasting experience started his work at the Georgia State University’s Economic Forecasting Center in 2000. Between 2008 – 2012, he served as the economist for the Western NY – Buffalo regional chapter of the National Association of Purchasing Managers. In 2010, he was invited by Bloomberg News Corporation to join their survey of economists. In 2013, he was invited to join the Factset survey.

These surveys are selective and used widely by business and public policy leaders as a guideline for the United States economic outlook. Both of these surveys are continuously cited in the media and by the global financial industry. The surveys encompass a wide array of economic variables, including output, prices, and labor market characteristics. Although the consensus forecast is publicly available, individual participants’ forecasts are generally available to subscribers only.

The accuracy of his forecasts earned him invited appearances on Bloomberg Radio, CNBC, Benzinga Radio, and etc. His forecasting has been featured in numerous business and broad media publications, including Bloomberg, Bloomberg First Word, The Buffalo News, The Detroit Free Press, The Telegraph (UK), and etc.

Dr. Melnik’s areas of research include applied microeconomics and public finance. His research has been published by such leading economic journals as The Journal of Industrial Economics, The National Tax Journal, The Manchester School, and many others. His research in the area of sales taxation has been cited by researchers at the Illinois State Department of Revenue, the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, and featured in Forbes. His works have been cited by leading policy think tanks such as The American Enterprise Institute and the Heartland Institute.
